Setting up a TII's ignition

2 Attachment(s)
I've been running MS-n-S-extra for awhile now but only using the fuel part it. I'm wiring up the ignition half of it now and have a couple of questions.

1. I initally couldn't get the tach to work when running it on the stim. I've read other threads about having to place some jumpers on the V3 board. I've got the V2.2 board. I did get the tach to work though by jerry rigging a CAS up to a drill and jumping the CAS leads to the VR circuits. (see my pic below).

2. I'm guessing the LEDS are suppose to be lit up all the time since they are connected to 5V through the 4.7K resistor, right?

3. Other than using a scope how can I tell if I have everything hooked up correctly and the coil signals are being sent. (like watching the leds blink, or something in megatune).

4. With the daughter board wired up can I still use the fuel only setup I was using? (I want to break in my new motor on my proven setup before I start screwing with the ignition).

5. Last question. Where should I set the the adjustable resistors on the daughter board that are connected to the neg side of the VR sensors.

Here is some info on my setup.

87 RX-7 TII
MSnS-extra version 25K
"error's" daughter board

Thanks in advance for the help

1) the normal tach circuit won't work anymore on the 2.2 board after wiring in the daughtercard... it only continues working on the v3 board because one of the vr sensor conditioners is built-in.

2) The middle led will flash when you're spinning the CAS.... the other two leds might flash a cranking speeds, but shouldn't really flash after that.

3) I'd suggest bringing your leading and trailing coils in and bench testing and seeing if they spark as expected...

4) No, you have to unwire the u4 pin 6 to continue going fuel only

5) fully counterclockwise I believe. Make sure they have 0 ohms of resistance... if you have noise issues, you can adjust them back the other way until the noise goes away.
