How to wire 4 LX92 coils?
 

I decided to post this up because there isn't a single mention of these coils in this section, so I figured that I would ask in hopes of getting a reply that would atleast be helpful:)
I want to do away with my stock coils and ignition amplifier and replace them with 4 lx92 coils. Well, this is where my thought process comes to a halt: I have 2 trigger wires and 1 selector wire coming from the megasquirt to the stock ignitors under the coils. I guess I could just swap the 2 trailing coils for 2 of the lx92 coils (I'm really not sure), but I have no idea what to do about the leading coil situation. Any input would be greatly appreciated:icon_tup:

I've thought about this from time to time, so I wonder if I can just wire up 2 of the coils for the leading from my ign. amp. which is getting it's signal from the single ignitor. I got the idea here:

(Also, I guess LS1 coils would be in the same ballpark as well? As for the resistance values between the 2, I have no idea.)

I am going to officially take out my ignition amplifier because I just replaced my leading coil with another used one I had laying around and after 2 days, it's misfiring. I was expecting that, but I wanted to see how long it would last (because I have yet another one as well). I just want a hotter spark than stock, but I can't use an amp. without it burning out these coils, thus the question about the individual coils I stated.

If you configure MS to FD-style ignition outputs, that should solve your signal problems. You then get Leading, Trailing1, and Trailing2 signals from the three LED's, which should work fine for firing those four individual coils.

What are your plans for coil drivers for those coils? A set of 4 VB921's or equiv. should work, but custom mounting/heat sinking, and wiring would be required.

As for coil drivers, I honestly don't know yet. I unfortunately don't have enough time anymore to be able to search around for hours and trying to find an answer, thus the reason why I am posting alot in the MS forum. I need to finish restoring my brother's car (see sig below) and it is robbing me off all my free time.

Would you by chance happen to know the equivelant to the vb921? Digikey no longer sells them (they told me that they are "obsolete"), and they are not listed at glensgarage and diyautotune.

Check out the Bosch BIP373. It's being used as the VB921 replacement. DIY Autotune has stock:
