Communication between laptop and Megasquirt Problems
I have a rs232 to usb adaptor. Using dell Inspiron 6400 with only usb ports.
If I don't nurse the laptop I get frequent dropouts in the comms. I need to kill megasquirt remove and reseat the usb and then reload and sometimes it works. Else I have to move the connector to a different usb port. Or completely reboot the laptop. Is it possible that the megasquirt is causing this. I am going to test again tomorrow using the LC-1 and see if i get frequent dropout problems. Then borrow my friends old laptop which has a screw in rs232. I really wannt get this car running right. This does sound like its a problem with the usb connectors on the laptop being rattled? I'm currently in the process of autotuning my 12a, I will share the map once its decent. |
it's probably the usb->serial adapter...
There's a thread in the ms2/extra section of the msextra.com forums where people list what adapters work and what adapters don't for them. I personally have 3 adapters, and only one works reliably. Ken |
It was working until the car was rolling :wallbash:
I had my gf cradleing the laptop and we got a 6min datalog to autotune with :( |
I tested it again today, wouldn't work for more than 1min with either lc-1 in realtime datalog or dataloging with the megasquirt.

I have the adaptor from DIYautotune and it works perfectly everytime. I give it :icon_tup: :icon_tup: .
I don't know how practical it is for you to order it from them since your in Austrailia, but you might be able to find that brand. |
Well I have processor resets :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:
But today I got some tuning done because a kind friend has lent me his time, and his Pentium 200MMX running Win2k. When the processor resets when using a real serial port, megatune and the whole connection doesn't crash, it comes back online very quickly. |
