Have you dyno'd? That seemed a bit close for a LS1 vette with 3 mods.

That's what I was thinking.

Venom-X1 10-13-05 03:59 PM

I dyno'd at 323rwhp before the hks twin power and efini y-pipe. His car is a factory freak.

At what PSI?

Venom-X1 10-13-05 05:11 PM

15psi

DonaldC 10-13-05 05:30 PM

Seems the shifting is a little slow.

ALNY93R1 10-13-05 05:45 PM

Nice kill, power shifting would of had you ahead the whole way.

7THSIGN 10-13-05 05:47 PM

wow man, nice video and great runs!

G's 3rd Gen 10-13-05 05:55 PM

What areyour afr's @ WOT? Are you still sequential? I think you shoould have spaced him a bit more. Good kill by anymeans. We have almost identical mods except for the intercooler set-up and choice of engine management.

there might have been some problems with the rx7 but it sounds like you guys arent giving the vette any credit. a properly running vette with those little mods isnt a slouch. im sure the car could run high 12's around 110 mph

I could pull my buddies 97 viper the about the same as he pulled the vette in the first run with a dp, cb, CIA and a PFS purple running 13 psi.

Venom-X1 10-13-05 10:20 PM

I believe the vette ran a 12.8 @ 112 with a 2.2 60'

hey stop picking on C5 vettes!!! go race a c6 z06 and try to beat that!!!

lol jk

nice race man, cant believe a C5 with just those bolt ons kept that much close of a distance..

cptpain 10-14-05 09:58 AM

he was running stock twins and a petite SMIC? with that he wouldve spaced the vette a bit more, maybe a bit more tuning and some more practice power shifting

Venom-X1 10-14-05 10:02 AM

I have a pettit SMIC, the person who made the video messed up.

ChunkyMonkey 10-14-05 10:37 AM

nice vid, what gear and rpm were you at when starting? But like the others said, I agree with the shifting...each throw gave him way to much make up....But good run either way....I can't wait to finish my project so I can terrorize the locals. I'm tired of driving my wifes srt-4, lol.....

Force13B 10-14-05 11:27 AM

No brake boost? Didn't sound like it, would have given you a better jump at the start.

X-JaVeN-X 10-14-05 12:48 PM

ok..i've noticed more and more people "brake boosting"...I really have to try this when my motor gets back from getting a street port.

Nice runs btw

FD Rey 10-14-05 01:00 PM

I swear by brake boosting. It's such a disadvantage for turbo cars if you don't brake boost on a roll race. Specially against V8 cars where their torque comes on instantly and they WILL keep that distance they pull on you while you spool.

Venom-X1 10-14-05 01:01 PM

I was brake boosting thats why i had such a nice start on the first run, dunno what happened on the second run though.

driFDer 10-14-05 01:04 PM

Nice vid! I had a chance to go against a C5 a while ago - I had a full exhaust, intake and boost controller - from a 35 roll I pulled on him by about a fender. What speed were you at when you shut down?

FD Rey 10-14-05 01:06 PM

^ your sig is huge! lol

Venom-X1 10-14-05 04:18 PM

Ya, brake boosting helps a lot. I topped out 4th and let off but the second race i shifted to 5th and he gained a little ground back.

A normal c6.. Old zo6 w/ intake full exhaust too.. Wouldnt fool w/ a new zo6 though. out of stock turboed car's league..

cripsR6 10-15-05 07:39 PM

EXACTLY how is brake boosting performed? Similar to powerbraking an automatic?
Someone please enlighten me. (Sorry for the hijack!)

1QWIK7 10-15-05 08:05 PM

while in gear, you hold the brake down while you're giving throttle to build boost..then when you let off the brake, you get that boost instantly..rather than off the throttle, then back on and wait for it to spool..

Nice kill. You just beat a 400hp car with a ginormous engine. Still like the look of the new c6. I wish I had the money to get the new Z06.

R.K.

SayNoToPistons 10-15-05 11:26 PM

damn nice kill. ^ meh...the style doesnt look "HOT ROD" enough. the C5s were HOT with the flip up lights.

RedFulcrum 10-19-05 07:56 PM

stock c5s are slow with just bolt ons. They really need tuning to wake the cars up. Damn I wish I could race a 7 out here in San Diego. I've been here for 3 weeks and people shy off. How come people don't want to race vettes? We're not even that fast... stock.

Hey guys, I had this big argument about gas mileage and the 7. I remember when I roamed around town in mine in DC, I would only get around 180 a tank. He was claiming 350 city driving in san diego. I never saw that kind of mileage out of city driving, 350 was more like highway to me. Was that bad for big city driving? I don't think my car was ever burning that rich. My vette stinks more than it and I get way better mileage in it. Maybe it was just my 7.
