TII vs 99 GTP vs integra

I'm not tryin to brag by posting this cuz I respect the guys I raced but I just wanted to get some of ur guy's perspective. So here are the facts, I drive a 87 TII, super strong motor with 10,000 miles, and the rest of my mods should be posted beneath. I raced a (not positive on the years) 99 Pontiac GTP with intake and exhaust, and a 00 integra (vtech; sorry, not that familiar with these two cars).
The first race was from about a 10mph roll with the integra and I had a 200+ pound passenger. At the end of first his front bumper was at my door; After second he might have been half a car lenght behind; and third I walked him a little quicker... The GTP was a little faster so I raced him next. We started from a dig, I started a fraction of a second late so he pulled up on me but by the time I finished my launch through first gear, our noses were about even. I shut down prolly around 90 and i could see him in my rear view, despite the fact that my clutch slipped hard after 2nd and 3rd.

After meeting up back at our dorms we got to talkin and I found out their numbers. The integra dynoed at 147whp and the GTP 197whp. But what blew my mind was the GTP with a good launch did a 13.8 quarter mile. I was pretty proud of the 7 after hearing that. Just have essentially intake and crappy exhaust and it's in the 13's? Is that possible??

Anything's possible. Dare to dream. :) J/k. Nice kills.

Wait, he's putting 197 to the wheels? I thought those cars made closer to 220 at the wheels?

Either way, if he ran a 13.8 at the track, and he ran the same on the street (not likely due to different conditions), then I don't see why it wouldn't be logical to assume your's could be into the hight 13's. HOWEVER, in my honest opinion, you're probably running mid to low 14's with good launch and driver mod.

Probably just the dyno he was on read low numbers I'm guessin.

You're probadly faster than 13.8.

My good freind has 87 T2 with 198,000 miles, cone filter and 3.5 DP and 3" exhaust.

Ran a 13.6 with a engine that blew 2 weeks later.

I've owned an 86' GT-S Corolla, 1990 240sx hatch, 1990 240sx coupe(with SR20), 1995 240sx SE, 1993 RX-7, 2000 Supercharged corvette, 2001 automatic corvette, and have looked into others like Mazda Speed Miata, Infiniti G35 6spd, Toyota Supra Mark IV's, etc.

I love RWD cars. :icon_tup:

3.5" DP!!! where'd he get that??? (prolly why the engine blew)

Racing beat sells them. Ask to speak with Jim Langers. He is the owner of Racing Beat. He can hook you up. They are for off road racing, but have a O2 bung.

since when does exhaust size cause apex seal failure?

We had a boost controller, and a fuel cut. all from Jim.

I would think the blown seal was from the previous owner no doing enough oil changes, and running the balls of the car, geez I would have thought 198,000 was pretty good for mileage. Thats was a good one!

A larger exhaust means the turbo can spool faster and create more psi.... therefore the engine has to compensate by injecting more fuel for the increase in air. If his car just had a boost controller and no fuel upgrades it's very likely the engine would lean out causing rapid seal failure...very very common for the fc

Slow Rotor 02-14-08 05:16 PM

Well my car has a few more mods and only does a 13.5 so im figuring you would be in the low 14 range

ZAN_TUNING 02-14-08 05:39 PM

nice races anthony! i think i would run a high 13 :D

With an Intake, 3.4" pulley, reprogramed PCM and a catback I dyno'd 222whp/310wtq (im not exaggerating either. The GTP makes a boatload of torque, but not a lot of high end power. go go non-IC roots blower) in my 2000 GTP. My best time, after adding headers, was a 13.8 @ 101. With out slicks there is next to no chance he really ran 13.8.

Anyway, strap a turbo, injectors and a tune to that GTP and it is a high 11 sec car. That can be done for under $4k.

Good run.

I hear what your saying, but do you know what a boost controller does?

It controls boost, so you don't blow it up. We was only running 8 psi. :)

Yes I know exactly what a boost controller does.... I'll just stop with this, if it was an s4 and the wastegate wasn't ported that was prob the issue..
