My FD vs chevy something
 
Im usually not the type to post a kill story because i dont feel its necessary, especially if its not recorded on camera but i thought this kill was a bit weird so i might as well share it with you guys.

I got out at work about 5:45 today, traffic out the wazoo coming out of my job but not nearly as bad getting on the highway. I normally take the highway for about 3/4 of a mile because my house is literally blocks away from the exit off that highway.

Anyway going down a long long long off ramp to get onto the highway which was packed with cars, i noticed some dude to my side but a bit behind me that didnt want me to get in front (2 lanes merging into 1). He was driving a big chevy something, i think blazer but it was the older one, prob late 90s but its big, not the normal small suv looking blazers, so it def have a v8 in there. I guess since my car is tiny and his truck is huge, he can merge in and just forget about me. Ok fine, i let it go in front.

Well highway is coming up and we both leave at the same time, me still behind him. There was some traffic so i keep it in 3rd doing about 50mph. He cuts a car and i cut a car too to stay with him (mind you my exit is only less than a mile away, i cant go super fast otherwise ill miss it). So he cuts one more time and i cut with him so i stay behind him but im not too close, i say im about 2-3 car lengths behind him, and we both punched it from about 50mph still. The most weird thing about this is that he actually stayed with my acceleration from about 50-70mph. So at 70-75, i shifted to 4th and switched lanes cause it was clear and blew by him pretty hard, i felt sorta defeated cause not only did he matched my acceleration a bit but the fact that i had to do a ricer fly by and slow down hard because there was a car in the lane i have to use to make my exit.

So what did i do next? A stupid fnf move and used about 50 feet of the shoulder to keep my speed without looking like an idiot from slowing down hard and i made my exit at the same time. As soon as i exited, 3-4 seconds later he zooms by on my left side so he was still on his speed i presume. Now im coasting on the service road doing about 45mph waiting for the exit on ramp for my exact entrance into my town.

I get to the light and im sitting there, mentally shocked at what just happened and what i just did. I was partially embarassed because i think my car is fast, i know its not the fastest but our cars are quick, i have a handful of mods, maybe my car is more tired than what i think. Then another side of me is like "sigh" because of the fnf move i did, using that shoulder lane to get into my exit because it would be pretty close slowing down from the speed i was going.

During all this thinking, i glanced at my power meter and my speed showed a peak of 113mph.

I was like holy shit, thats how fast i was going before i slowed down?

Im still thinking about it as i type about how the hell could he have keep his lead from the beginning of open throttle to about 70mph. And even after i switched lanes to pass him, i left him hard but not like holy shit a bike just passed us type of hard. That means he was prob going around 90-95 when i got to my 113mph. Something doesnt feel right.

My mods are intake, dp, 3" PFS catback, about 8-10lbs of boost and non seq. I think my car is just tired, this just amps me to make it fast. I feel like ripping the car down and building it back up better and faster but i dont have the motivation nor the time with the actual car to make this happen just yet.

DAMN!!! Thats just weird. However, some crazy bastards actually mod these things (SUV's) so it wouldn't surprise me if it had an S/C or a cam or something. Don't feel too bad.

Lingenfelter has a nice customer base of modified Yukons and Suburbans. He'll put 440 hp to 1000 hp engines in these beasts. I read an article in a boating mag a few years back where a modded Yukon was getting sub-4 second 0 - 60 times and high 11s in 4 wheel drive, in two wheel drive he couldn't get any traction as the tires just kept igniting. This same Yukon pulled an 8500 pound boat up and over some notorious California highway mountain pass and never slowed.....amazing.

Some people lose races because they are bad drivers. That sounds like the case for you. You cannot expect to get much power in 3rd gear at 50 mph. I'm not sure why you even posted this??? It certainly doesn't sound like a race to me.

Bad driver because i was in the wrong gear? Nice theory.

I didnt intend to "race" that blazer, i just wanted to pass him already because he didnt let me go in front at the beginning where we first met up. Its just one those people that are like on the way, and you're like, "fuck, move out of the way already".

And i was in 3rd gear for a while, i say about 10 seconds, i wasnt gonna be in 2nd ready coasting at like 6500rpm or something waiting to pass him.

I know i wasnt gonna get power in 3rd going 50mph. But how the hell was i was supposed to know he was gonna get on it once the road cleared up, car just lagged hard, then i blew past him. I guess me having a 14 year old stock cat is the reason why i dont get fullboost early lol

I was at Lingenfelter's shop one Sunday, years ago, daydreaming through the fence, and John and the boys came back from the track with a modded Yukon that was pulling 1+ G's on the skidpad...That guy does crazy stuff with small blocks..

lol you guys are funny. I know what a typhoon and a syclone is and this truck def wasnt it.

But a tad bit newer, this one in the pic is a 93, i would say its like a 98? Now im second guessing it might be a 2 door yukon but its the same size as in the pic. So def v8, lots of torque. For all i know, it had spray cause it had altezzas and chrome wheels. Never know these days with people making their cars as sleepers.

Im not stressing it anymore. My car is old, original cat which makes me hit full boost almost 5 grand. I get anywhere from 8-10psi. Exhaust leak, im not surprised if i lost alot of performance.

I recently took the original stock cat off my car and replaced it with a midpipe, it felt like I installed nawwwss or something.

Nah no thanks, i dont want my car to sound like a broken weedwhacker.

Ill just put my other better condition cat that i have sitting in my shed.
