88 N/A vs VR6 Jetta

Im on my way home from a McDonalds run and I look in my rear view because I see headlights coming up fast. Hes a Pizza delivery guy. He flies by me and slows down next to me, flipping off his "pizza light". My friend was in the car and hes a VW'er. Hes got a mkii GTI thats pretty quick too.

"your going to die, its got a VR"
"Itl be fun"

I roll up slowly and look over at him. He stays lined up with me and we cruise for a while. I waited for him to make a move, but he was doing the same thing. I quickly decided to stop fucking around and go for it. dumped it into 2nd and took off. I heard him downshift and the VR roar to life. I pulled around 2 cars before he started to catch up. I shifted into 3rd. He crawled by me and put on his hazards, slowed down and got over to a turning lane. I thought I was going to get raped, but I didnt loose that bad...I cant wait for my tii swap.

Yes, turbo is the only way to go with the 13b. Im hoping to be killing evos and stis by the end of this summer.

Full tuneup right after I bought the car, my 6pi actually work like they should and a catback exhaust...thats it for now. Next in line is suspension and wheels, I dont see any point in getting headers or making a cold air box with the turbo swap right around the corner.

LOL, sounds like some shit you'd hear in an FNF movie :rlaugh:

The VR's are only in the mid 15's, so if you did a short run, he isn't going to walk all over you. Now, if you went for a full 1/4 or something, he would end up more than a few lengths ahead.

So with all my mods on my sig I should beat a VR6 Jetta.

My friend was saying the other day he was going to get rid of his aba swap 2.0. Has Aftermareket 272 cam, after market clutch, bigger throttle body, aftermarket exhaust, and K&N Filter. To get a VR6 Corrado or Jetta or GTI. So he can keep up with my moded N/A Rx7

maybe VR6 just make sure its not a R32.............

0verb00st 02-05-08 07:00 PM

VR's have alot of torque and sound mean.

R32 has the 24v VR = pwnage

VRs are only good for 15s? Where did you get that info from?

MKII or MKIII? MKII Jetta is pretty light and VR6 swaps are done, but not that common. MKIII Jettas however are pretty heavy and that motor is stock for them. They weigh around 2,800lbs and the motor only produces 170ish hp.

Yeah, they're only good for 15s, mine ran a 10 flat in the 1/8th which would roughly be a 15 flat...however after 100+mph, is when it really picked up.

The Jetta was a mkiii. My friend drives a mkii GTI with a 16v in it that gets up and goes pretty quick.

VW love. Stock VR6s are putting down around 150-ish to the wheels. Either way, id take the rex over any mk3 jetta.

RX7freak08 02-06-08 05:54 PM

Yeah my friends dyno on the scirocco was 67hp and 97lb of torque.lol. I laughed when I found that out.

Upgrayedd 02-06-08 06:20 PM

Not bad... Go for an R32 when you get your T2 swap ;) Should be a good race... I enjoy racing the R32s and 1.8t's and 2.0t's. Especially the heavily modified ones

He bought it from a dealership that didnt know anything about it. It was originally a 2.0 8v and the previous owner swapped the 2.0 16v into it. It has a full exhaust and I think it might be cammed (not sure because he doesnt have any info on what the previous owner did to it). All I know is it pulls harder then any other N/A car ive been in (on par with a mustang cobra).

I cant wait to do my swap. TII FTMFW

My good friends H22 prelude pulls on my other friends golf VR6 GTI. Appearantly that little Volkswagen that could, has some extensive engine work, but i think he's full of shit because the prelude is stock.

A 100 shot of spray and you would've blew him away!
