I was looking at buying a 1988 rx-7 convertible. I heard that the vert is a lot heavier and slower than the regular NA. Do you think I am going to be dissapointed? How does it compare to the regular rx-7, not the the turbo obviously.

Will I be dissapointed with this car? I've heard they are much slower and and weigh a lot more than the hard tops.

Test drive it and find out for yourself, it all depends on what you want and expect out of the car.

Ive owned a convertible and then ended up doing a turbo swap(straight forward swap) to get the extra power I craved. Ultimately even with the NA motor it is still a fun car, but yes the convertible is a noticeable amount heaver and tends to flex. If you get one hit me up I have a roll bar I can sell u for cheap that fits perfect under the stock top and looks great, really helps to stiffen the vert and provides some flip-over protection. Good luck

Awesome. I'm going to look at the car tomorrow. If I do buy it I will be looking for a roll bar, so I'll PM you for sure.

i am not a big fan of any convertible they dont take the turns as good as a hard top they weigh moor and i just dont like the look of them if you want speed dont go with the vert if you just love the look of it then get it it all depends on what you want it for

also, keep in mind that a 7 is a 7.
if indeed power is what you want, its always achievable with a 7, vert or not!
i just picked up a streetported s4 turbo vert so i might be a little biased lol

i was never a fan of the verts till i got one, and even now i still like the fast back style of the hardtop. its almost like the vert feels like half a FC

jus remember, that power can always be made if the will is there!

I was considering a 'vert as a sort of compromise... because I couldn't decide if i wanted to buy a 7 again, or get a miata...
but i think ultimately i'd be disappointed, because it would be nice to have the drop top, but it wouldnt feel as tight or as pure as either the hard top or a more 'inherently' convertible car, like the miata
