Saying hi from the Chicagoland area.

Hey guys, Im Rick.

My car at the moment is not a rotary powered vehicle it is a simple Pontiac.

I was an automotive technician for 7 years prior to being laid off last year. I used that "opportunity" to go back to school and pursue a different career path.

I joined up to do as much research as possible on the FD generation of 7s and their engines since I will have full access to a 2 car garage to store and work on a project in the near future. I started looking into older 911 porsches to mod and build into something along the lines of the ones built by RWB but I quickly found out how expensive everything is in the porsche world. I started looking for something different that looked great and had lots of potential for track use. That led me to the RX7.

You should definitely pursue the rx7, I am just getting into it with my FD, and from people I have talked to, it seems parts are super cheap if you go later generations such as fc, fb. I see posts all the time about craigslist deals. I'm sure if you do a little research being a mechanic, you can make one bad ass rx7 with little cost doing the work yourself. Good Luck!
