Dunno. I was just using the vid as some motivation for the OP to consider sliding his around in that gravel as opposed to the gravel being a limiter.

Thanks for the inspiration, Daronh! But...I think I'll keep my shiny paint on the asphalt. The roads around the ranch are more rock than dirt. The rocks make quick work of shiny paint and smooth bodies. Besides, I have a 4WD truck for sliding around corners and getting out of the subsequent ditches. :)

I rediscovered one of the "reviving" links....https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-arch...k-life-246167/ Unfortunately, the info ends once the engine starts. Maybe I'm being a little paranoid but I've discovered lots of those secret gems of wisdom AFTER I needed to know them.

I put 5 gallons of regular gas with premix (about 150:1) in the tank just in case the OMP didn't work. It does. So, should I dilute the premix gas to keep the mix from being to rich or just go ahead and let the engine have excess oil for now and just replace/clean the oil fowled plugs later?

The engine idle is rough. There is a steady, rhythmic 'throbbing'. I've attached a video of the tach so you can see and maybe hear what I'm talking about.
Also, there is now a 'clacking' noise that wasn't there at first. Listen to the 2nd video. Seems to be coming from the transmission and not the engine. There is no fluid in the clutch but it easily shifts into gear at idle. I noise started sometime after i put it into gear for the first time. Any ideas or suggestions?

Ok, something else I can't get to work is attaching videos...apparently. I don't see them in the post. If they aren't there for your viewing pleasure can someone tell me what the trick is? I've tried both the paper clip icon and the "Go Advanced" drag and drop method.

just copy/paste link to video.

ARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! I'm not computer illiterate but I'm having an issue. The videos are 24kb MOV files made with my I phone and are stored on my computer. Since I couldn't get the forum to upload them via drag and drop or copy and paste I set up an account with Tinypics to try the url route. Tinypics says it can't upload the video file so it seems I can't go the url route either. What am I missing here? The file size is small. MOV files are supposed to be ok. Something I'm not seeing?

sorry to imply u were. not knowing where the video u were wanting to upload was coming from, i figured it was something from anther site. now knowing it's u uploading it, maybe convert the file to jpg? i do know that there is a limit on file size. i really don't know, just throwing out ideas.

Awesome post, great car and even greater story! Cool to hear about a first-gen original owner!

I love my ‘79 but sure wish it was the manual. Have you done any suspension work on it? I think that’s next on my list....

Sorry for the lag in response time. Moving and selling a house seem to eat up most of my time these days.

Well, maybe I am temporarily computer illiterate. I never could get the video of the rattling noise to upload but, no matter, the sound got bad enough I was able to locate the source. It's coming from the CAT. I added the cat with the Mind Train exhaust many years ago as that seemed to be the direction the laws were going. Now it's not needed in TX so I may rod it out.
Any ideas why it broke down after just sitting around for 20+ years? Doesn't have many operating miles on it.

Thanks CW. Glad you like it.

MBART27- Haven't gotten to the suspension this go around. I did most of the front end work on the last rebuild but I need new struts and a few bushings by the looks of things. Springs and sway bars are still stock. Once I get it back on the road and see how it feels I'll make the decision on what else to change.

The plan now is to rebuild the brakes just good enough so I can load it on a trailer and move it to the new home. Under a short deadline so just doing the minimum at this point.
