New to rotary FD3s

Just wanted to say hello and that I have just acquired a 1993 FD. What I thought was a decent example has turned into a troubleshooting adventure. Body and interior is in great shape. However, I believe the primary turbo is not working properly, the magnaflow custom catback is loud...even with a stock cat, the belts are squealing badly. I am still excited to learn, but the curve is steep at the moment.

haha...I had a feeling I would run into some fellow Evo enthusiasts as well. Thanks.

It's weird coming from the 4G63 motor which is tolerant of some engine knock whereby the ECU can compensate for it to a twin turbocharged rotary that is no tolerant of knocking at all. I must tread carefully.

Congrats on the new purchase, and good luck with fixing the issues. Swapping out the cat-back should be easy, changing the belts (if thats all the problem entails) isn't too bad. The primary turbo problem however could be a lot of different things, but don't get discouraged.

If you do get discouraged and it is a white FD, sell it to me ;)

lol...thanks for all the words of encouragement.

I was able to obtain a stock piping catback with a FlowMaster muffler section. I installed it, but it was still loud. I am wondering if getting a new Racing Beat twin catback will make any improvements in sound.

I was also able to get a new power steering pump with a new pulley. They squealing noise has been reduced dramatically, however there is still a little squealing, especially when cold. I will see if changing out the belt will help.
