New to Rotaries

Hi, I recently purchased a 1979 12a with 133,000 miles with a rebuild at 124,000 miles for $400.00. Nice little 'boinger', picked it up for my kid brother so he can take classes at a local college while he is in high school. Registered but smog is due in 3 weeks...fml lol.

Bought it from a guy in Stockton, CA. Straight body, runs but there seems to be a leak from the carburetor, hopefully just a hose - however planning on attempting a carburetor rebuild anyways. There's a little bit of dense white smoke coming from underneath the car - hoping it's a leak in the muffler (RB upgrade yay!) and not the O-rings. Gutted out the mess inside and cleaned it all up, the floors look brand new, washed/deep cleaned it with a steamer. Just waiting for my sister-in-laws Napa discount thing to kick it before i start tuning up the car, flushing fluids, replace a few things, etc. It came with a back metal slitted 'thing' for the rear window, but it's missing a few brackets at the bottom to lock it in place, anyone know where to get some? Thanks.

I'm in the Sacramento area and would love to meet up with some rotary enthusiasts. To trade motor idea and CARB issues lol.

Thanks a lot for reading guys.

Hey thanks a lot, i hope to bring this thing back into a good working condition. About to get a few days off and I can't wait to tinker with the seven.

I live in San Jose. I just recently got a 1985 12A GSL. I'd need help too. maybe we could exchange ideas. I need a lot of under the hood work too.

@Naobi Hey congrats to you too as well. What kind of under the hood stuff are you looking at currently? I peeked under the hood and fixed the carburetor problem I had when I first bought it. I just trouble shot it with the Haynes. Maybe I could look through it for you. However, SJ is kind of a ways away and until this baby is in tip top shape I don't think I will be able to make the trek (lol).

@sebax1_R1 Thanks a lot =] I'm hoping to pick through the forums for the 12a
