New member in Alberta, Canada

Hello everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself as a new member. I recently joined, but have been using this forum as a great source of information and indirect advice for some time.

I live in Alberta, and at long last bought a 92 FD this summer. It's minus the engine and transmission, so I'm having a lot of fun planning putting it back together.

I'd also like to say thanks to all those previous posters who's experience I've already benefited from.

Western Canada, eh?

Hi! Welcome to the forum!

Follow the activity in Vancouver on the Westcoast thread on the Canadian Forum. We have about 95 members. Great source for help in Western Canada.

Welcome to the forum! Always great to hear from another Alberta RX7 owner!

Lots of great information here and there are some good sources of help in Alberta. If you are after parts - few are as well connected as RedBul :icon_tup:

Please post up some pics of your new ride!

Thanks guys. It's nice to hear about the Vancouver scene. I have a very good friend that should be moving back there next summer, so hopefully I'll have good reason to get out that way next year. I live next to the SK border, so once my car's in one piece I'll be very keen to get it to the mountains and a corner that isn't just a 90 degree grid.

My FD is in storage right now, but I'll take some pictures this week. Thanks for the interest. It will force me to get to grips with posting pictures.

In the first picture my FD is filthy: this is why!

I got messed about by u haul when I went to buy my FD. I was supposed to get an auto hauler, but "surprise, surprise" they didn't have one, despite what I'd booked. Thanks to the generous help of the seller, I got it onto this dolly. There's no motor or transmission, so we removed the driveshaft, tied up the ppf, and then very carefully towed it the 3 hours home. I've learned my lesson, and have my own enclosed trailer now.https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...fd38fdbd66.jpg

Nice & Welcome ! There is couple of us in AB , more than you think .

I remember when I towed mine , it was an amazing 3hrs , almost the whole time I had my head turned 😂

Redbull is a great seller , at good price 👍

What are you plans with the car now ?
Stock twins ? Single ?
I imagine your looking for an engine & drivetrain.

Bracket

Your licence plate bracket may be a rare item.

Looks like you have 99 version 16" wheels. Also fairly rare in Canada.

Thanks 7krayziboi. My drive home was supposed to be 3 hours. It took me a lot longer for just the reason you said. That dolly was a real piece of crap!

I really appreciate everyone's recommendation. I'll certainly be looking for some parts in the future. It's good to know who to talk to.

I won't be able to work on it until the new year, so for now I'll be hitting the search button a lot, and trying to avoid the standard newbie gaffs. I'm leaning towards twins (BNRs) for street driving but I appreciate it's a contentious subject. I had a 99 Supra with twins a few years ago, and I really enjoyed it. I got to drive an FD back then too, which was bone stock, and just loved it. So I imagine any tuned setup will be a lot of fun at first.

Thanks for the information Redbul. I hadn't realised they were potentially uncommon parts. I won't be keeping any of them, so when I get around to it I'll remember your kind advice and offer them up in case someone wants them.
