Hey! I posted a similar thread on here years ago when I thought a minimum wage part time job in college had the potential to save up for my very own FD... 5 years later I actually have the funds to grab one now and I'm looking forward to it!

So my story so far goes a little like this. years ago when I was barely 17 my dad had given me an offer to fix his 87 FC for $2,500 cad, i brought it up again later after getting a job and I was laughed off, which basically made me say to myself I'll get a newer and better RX-7 then! and thats where the past 7 years of obsession began, I've researched every inch of the cars and I still haven't been turned away by peoples horror stories, the FD is the one and only car I plan on getting hopefully by the end of the summer or beginning of next!

however I now live in a small northern Alberta town so I don't have a for sure way of seeing any car in person unless its in Alberta or BC aside from people in Toronto that I've known for years that are willing to help me out there. my question is has anyone on here ever bought one without seeing it first? what should I look for? Obviously theres the threat of scams and lemons, I've already found a few on various websites and an FD for 10 in "good condition" is usually too good to be true right?

Welcome back to the forum!! I would personally inspect a car before purchase. I've bought things sight unseen and have been disappointed. I bought an 88 10th Anniversary RX-7 last week sight unseen but I knew it had issues and the price was more than fair so when I uncovered more that I was told, I wasnt completely disappointed. I would say that it's always best to research the car you're buying and inspect it in person before purchasing the car.

thats the goal! ultimately I'm hoping to find one close enough I can fly out there (maybe with a friend) and then drive it back and film the whole experience assuming it'll make the journey. with the way the prices are going now it's likely my 15-20K budget wont be enough for a perfect conditioned one either.

Filming the journey would be a great thing to do!!! Something that you can look back on and enjoy!
