New Member - 93 Rx7 Type R

Hello all,

I just purchased a 1993 type r. I am very excited to get to work on the car, once this midwest winter leaves. My plans for the car are to turn it into a cruiser/weekend track car. I have been a big s chassis guy and still own one as well, so its safe to say I enjoy FR cars.

I look forward to expanding my knowledge and learning more about the platform.

Thanks!

Haha same thing happened to mine, broke my heart to see the salt all over it. Looks like an awesome base tho! Can’t wait to see what you do with it

Thank you! I wasn’t too concerned with salt as one of the first thing I am going to do is a full respray.

I purchased some reinhardte coilovers and have some Te37’s to throw on, so we will start there and see how much more money it takes away from me 😂

Mine came salted up like that as well, broke my heart, but within an hr of it arriving I threw on my corolla plates and drove it 30secs up the street to a self service car wash and sprayed it the best I could lol

Nope, going to be staying red now and doing a simple scuff and spray. Will change eventually down the road

Haha yeah I should've done that. I just got unlucky at timing of delivery. My paint is also not in the best shape so it wasn't the end of the world. How have you enjoyed yours so far?

Overall yea I love it! Learning curve for me, my first FD but I enjoy that part. I’ve just focused on sourcing parts here and there, cleaning things up and doing some wire management. But I would def do it over again if I had to

Same here with it being my first FD. Where are you sourcing parts? New or used stuff? For my 240sx and other cars I’ve owned, I’ve always kind of went with period correct styling and interior mods from yaj auctions, up garage and other places. I see a ton of FD parts on there and was going to start there.

mine is a RHD, but this website is great for sourcing parts at fair prices, new/oem I’ll snag from Ray crowe at Malloy Mazda, and the only thing I was unable to source from either of the two was a wiper arm because they are different from LHD and RHD, so I found that on a japanRHD site I think? But this website and ray are gonna be your two most valuable sources. Don’t bother with dealers or autozones for anything aside from common maintanence things

Congrats to you as well!

I actually work in Elgin and live in Woodstock so we are very close.
We should definitely find a meet or so to cruise to this summer.
