Hi, My name is Daniel I live in Santa Rosa CA, Northern territory. I have always had a big interest in the rotary Engine! I was at a junk yard this weekend and picked up a 12a engine believed to be a 83rx7. I got it to go into my spitfire 1500. I know its not an Rx3 sp.. I have always wanted but those are hard to come by these days, My mate had a rx3 back in the 80's what a great sound this car had, now I'm showing my age. LOL so on with my story I watched a couple of vids on tele on rotary and of course most of the engines were 13b. now I know why people get the 13b easier for parts I'm assuming, so I took this engine apart yesterday, pretty basic engine to disassemble. the main shaft, Bearings, thrust washer, rotors are in great shape, but the housings seemed to be a disappointment, I know in some cases some people would probably reuse them but some of the chrome on the very edges has worn off, no cracks around spark plug holes, iron castings seem to be in great shape. So what with the rebuild kits and apex seals being quite pricy I think I might has well just burn my money. So my question is.... now get me here I'm not looking to get tons of HP because my rear end in my triumph can only take up to 150 HP and I know some of you guys are getting some crazy amounts of it out of these little power plants, Which I'm quite intrigued. its too bad the 12a seems quite robust from what I have heard and Carbureted which I liked. So I need some info from people has you guys have a lot of experience in your field of rotary engines. What would be the best set up should I get new housings, Even thou there hard to come buy maybe I should post some pics when I can. Seeing has rest is in good shape. I heard Goopy resurfaces housings. Then a guy at Mazda place said you cant resurface them. what would you guys do. thanks in advance for any info you can help with I'm very open to what you guys may suggest I'm looking forward too your feedback..
