ive been debating turbo or go 302 v8 its a tough call i already have the turbo and manifold and most of the parts i can make or get real cheap from friends

littlebit421 08-14-10 01:40 PM

Well there is alot of work in doing either one. I couldnt put a piston motor in my Rx but then again personal preference. Go rotary (at least until it blows). Im not a big fan of turbos Ive had a few friends with them and they didnt last very long. Ive had 3 na rx7"s and couldnt blow them no matter how hard i tried. and yes i tried

I know but I know a few people who slide the hell out of big turbo rotarys they say just run them rich make sure you always have good fuel/oil pressure and just take care of them and you should be fine

littlebit421 08-16-10 08:33 PM

very true. maintenance is a big factor also stock internals, my friend with the 87 t2 with fresh rebuild pushed 14psi and within 4 months it blewit even with breaking it properly. another friend had a 90t2 and kept it pedal to the medal all the time and one day went to start it NO COmpression. but thats me ranting and ravin bc i dont like turbos. on the other hand they were really fast and easy to slide sideways

littlebit421 08-16-10 08:38 PM

I had an 88 se with 4.30 gear full exhaust and intake, light weight flywheel (not to light) 14inch stock wheels, I could put the tire pressure at 40lbs and slide sideways all day or put tires down to 14 lbs and drag it. it would fold the tires it got off the line so good.

yea i slide on stock fd wheels majority of the time and i have to clutch kick the hell out of it to slide when its dry out but as soon as it rains its like a 1000hp lmao  its so much fun its just to hard to do events with big corner with very little power if you know what im sayin

yeah your right about the rain and also havin to clutch kickin the hell out of it if its dry but either way its fun as hell and i miss it. I have have a convertible now and its really hard to hit sideways rain or shine but it does grip better than any other rx that ive ever had
