My name is David, 25 i live in Virginia. former military, former IT, now own an olive oil distro company...exciting huh.

a little about me, i like long walks on the beach, candle lit dinners

but serious note. ive been an rx8 owner for a while. just sold it so i can get an rx7. but its REALLY hard to find a stock fd with low miles so I'm still looking.

i loved my 8, it was good to me, never had any issues. but i think that is because i couldnt pull any power out of it. was going to boost it, but found out they tend to fry seals even on 12 psi. so not being able to pull more than 300hp is why i sold it. 260whp doesnt make a 3000lb car any faster.

i mainly joined here so i could lurk around and find out what things...or issues i should look for when i do find "the one" in knowing only 8's i know nothing of 7's except for they have a different port configuration on the exhaust.

so far ive found some things on synchros (normal for mazda it seems) and apex seal failures after high miles. but nothing else, if anyone cares to add any quick items i should look for i would appreciate it.

attached are pics of what the 8 i had looked like. I miss it, but i love rotaries and want power

Welcome to RX-7 Club, David! If you want power, that FD and this website's guru's can definitely get you to where you want to go!

Many thanks for the great intro!

thanks, you were right, in the 45 minutes I've been on here, i think I have basically found out about EVERY thing that could go wrong with the FD.

so far it seems there are A LOT of very knowledgeable people, more so than on rx8 club...although we did have the exception of having one "rotarygod" on there who seemed to have made the rotor himself based off his knowledge.

speaking of which. i have looked and i cant seem to find a listing of people who i should listen to. rx8 had something like that so new guys knew who was full of bs and the ones who knew thier stuff. im sure ill find one with a few more minutes of searching.

general belief from me so far is, get 94 up, (i want a 95, but only 500 are here from my understanding) and from my math (which is horrible) 300-320hp in the fd is almost like having 400-450 in the 3000lb rx8... :) so im REALLY excited now to find "the one" and do the 9 or 10 mods to get 320 reliably :)

this thing is going to cost SOOOO much less to pull power out of than my 8 was.....and more reliable (if that is such a term for our precious engines)

Welcome.

I'm a big fan of olive oil. There are some producers here in CA in Napa.

RotaryGod got his start on this forum before the RX8 came out. Search for some of his old but still impressive threads. I agree with your assessment of the 2 forums. :)

Year doesn't matter. What matters is condition and level of preparation. Spend some time reading the 3rd gen FAQ thread and the Buyer's Guide.

so it seems rotarygod has been around more than a day :)

and if you want to try our olive oil, i dont know if its out there yet, but tj max (odd i know) just bought a large shipment. its indalo olive oil (www.indalo.com.ar and www.indalousa.com)
(napa has better olives than the mediterranian, you're lucky to have good wine and oils, set up with some merlot, cheese, bread and oil and watch the sun set.....i guess im on the wrong coast for all that junk)

and i ve been reading all the faqs....my eyes burn with knowledge :)
