Greetings! Any pictures of the turbo II? How long have you had her? |
ill post some when i get a chance, but she was an original purchase by my dad in the 90's and kept it around after i was born because it was the car i always wanted to drive so technically shes been around since i've been alive.

You sound exactly like me in October when I got my 89 T2. With research, and some sage advice from members I decided against a piggyback. For a couple of reasons:
One, a used piggyback doesn't seem generally programmable anymore, so you would have to try and match your mods to the chip, rather than the other way around. Two: a stand alone is a rock solid base for wherever you want to take your build, bigger injectors, new turbo, whatever. Full control over your oil metering, you can have that. I could make a long list. I wish I could tell you I already have first hand experience, but I'm still saving. Been doing maintenance and reliability stuff so far. In a month or two I'll be able to tell you. My plan is to do stand alone, upgraded fuel system, injectors and hybrid turbo. Doing a lot at once since I am so far from the tuner I will use. Good luck with the T2 whatever route you go! I'll be looking for its progress! and I will post when I get my tune and maybe a dyno sheet. |
Welcome!! Can't wait to see pics of the car!! Being that it was your dad's car, I personally would not modify it. I would just drive it and enjoy it and and own it as a sentimental piece. Will mean a lot to you some day trust me. But its your car and you are free to do whatever you want with it of course.
