New to forum, but not to the rotary
Howdy all!
New member here from Milwaukee WI signing up view the wealth of information you guys have to offer! I spend my time gaming, working on the rx8, and messing around with herps. Keep cresteds and scorpions(not a herp, I know), and am looking to pickup a pair of satanic leaf tail geckos in the near future.
I currently own an RX8 touring, but sadly made the mistake of buying an auto.... Without fail I constantly drive with my hand on the gear select, pretty sure I'm dying inside a little more every time I do....
So I'm looking to fix that problem
Experience with cars: I feel comfortable replacing/tackling any job(minus turbo) as I've done just about everything on my old mx6 including engine swaps with JDM engines.
There are a ton of fb and fc rx7s for sale cheap around here, and I'd love to pick one up as a project to turbo. (there's also a FD for $3500 for complete car with blown engine, seems like hella deal?) Now I know next to nothing about turbo and ports, but that's why I'm here, now isnt it? Ideally I'd love to pickup an engine asap and get to work on it(looking to dedicate $1-2K to reinforce it, is this enough?) and then place it into a shell, but we shall see. In the meantime, I'm going to take a look around and see what's up!
Thanks all!
Short form:
Hi
Filler garbage about myself
Have Rx8, hate that it's auto
Want 5sp fb rx7 because I like look
Want to build an engine(not sure 12a or 13b, but thats why I'm here) for later boost ($2k enough for this?)
end of intro

What th...?! All that yakkin' and nary a real name in sight? Well, at least your heart is set in the right place considering a 5-sp 1stgen RX-7. Go 13B swap. You won't regret it. The stuff for the 12A engine is getting harder to find and more expensive by the day.
Thanks for taking the time to register and welcome aboard to RX-7 Club! Now go out and get that FB!

Pssshh, my age puts me in the 80s, so I gotta be a Justin, right? heh. Rgr that on the 13b! Found a local 79 in great condition that I'd love to put one into. I picked up a book on boosting rotaries, so I'm going over that now
