New FD Owner
Recently acquired this project from friend 1 that had it for 17 years, was mostly in this state for those years. Friend 2 wrecked his '93 in the early 2000s, bought this car to put all the parts in from the wrecked one. That never happened, both cars got bought by friend 3 for the motor to go in his '93. Friend 3 took most of the good parts for his car from this shell, scrapped the wrecked one, sold this shell to friend 1 in 2008. Friend 1 wanted to make a "street drivable race car" so a lot of parts either didn't come with the car or have gotten lost. My garage is heated and air conditioned, but I refuse to park outside during the winter so it sits until its warmer.
Pulled the LS2 and T56, gave those to a friend for the tow and future paint job. I have no interest in a V8 in it. I got my start in turbo cars in 2006 with DSMs, so current plan is 4G64 wide block, B2600 bell housing, FD drivetrain. I have no drivetrain at all, same friend that got the motor and trans has an AR5 from another project, might look to see if it will fit. Who knows, I'm not in a rush to get this going, I've only got about 60% of a car so it'll be a while before I am making any progress. Car was cheap though, cheaper than the motor and transmission could be bought for so I figured why not. I'm also poor, so that'll slow things down a lot. And I have kids. Welcome to the forum, and good luck with the project.

Very cool project!! Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new RX-7!

4g63 is sweet, at least glad to see it's not an LS. Should be fun. Since you got the project in this state noone can blame you for not keeping a rotary. I always thought a Mazda fe3 DOHC turbo would be a cool swap, but the 4g is a proven powerhouse.

Very cool project!! Even though you don't have a ton of rotary knowledge, you are surrounded by folks here that have plenty of it and we can help you along the way. A rotary engine is very simple and they can easily make a good amount of power. Welcome to the forum!!!

That's quite the project! Welcome to the forum! Post a link to a build thread when you get that far.

Welcome!

Welcome! Love the color of your car! Super cool to hear about the idea of a 4G64 Wideblock, I am currently in the process of refreshing an FD that had a 4G63 narrow block swapped into it back in 2011-2012. It currently has some valvetrain issues im chasing (valve stem protrusion height is too tall causing the roller rockers to make contact with the valve string retainers during valve closing) as well as reinstalling HVAC back into the car and cleaning up the interior and wiring
