New FD Owner

Hello Everyone! As of recently, I have joined the rotary family. I've been looking at the FDs for some time, and after plenty of searching, I pulled the trigger on the purchase. It is a 1993 Rx7 touring. I am excited to delve into the rx7 lifestyle and am also nervous as I am aware of the general amount of work and maintenance these cars require. I am looking forward to the journey ahead and hopefully I don't get flamed too much.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you're blatantly asking for trouble, this is probably the most helpful and grown-up forum of any car forum out there! (not that I've posted much, but I've been lurking for a long time!) :)

Any future plans for the car?

I know I'm speaking for everyone when I say this but, I feel like our forum now is mostly on the conservative side of modding and what not. Personally, I'm a "keep it all stock w/ exception of reliability mods" guy, but I wouldn't flame someone for wanting to go single, etc. If you start talking about doing negative camber drift-o xtreme then I might make fun a bit, lol. Still though, it is YOUR car so just learn from the stickies and try not to ask the most basic questions that have already been answered 5,000 times since 1993.

Thanks! The past two owner's kept extensive maintenanace records of the vehicle from all the oil changes to even the window sticker from the dealership. The car currently has 65k miles on it, the engine is street ported still running the sequential turbos running around 14 psi, aftermarket dual oil coolers, stiffer springs and shocks, Peter Farrell Exhaust system, and the Power Fc commander. It is still using the factory OMP, but is being premixed. Exterior is pretty stock, and other than a few gauges, the interior is also stock.

Definitely! I've seen from many other posts that the common theme is to research before posting questions. As for future plans, I don't see myself modifying it too much than it currently stands. Just trying to keep it reliable and running. :)

What are you running on the exhaust for a cat? Turbos have 65k on them or were they rebuilt? Do you have upgraded injectors? I'm only asking because 14 psi on the stock fuel system is really pushing hard on those injectors, watch your duty cycle during a few runs (or get a datalogit). For an example, people were seeing ~90% inj duty cycle at 13#, so be careful! Also, are you still on stock IC? If so, I'd recommend an upgraded IC if you want to keep running >12#.

I guess I didn't give enough information. The whole engine was rebuilt 10k miles ago, it has upgraded secondary injectors (1200cc), and is running an aftermarket intercooler and air filters. It was tuned and dyno'd less than 3k miles ago where the secondary turbo was blown and rebuilt and injectors were cleaned and calibrated. This is all directly from the receipts and documented diagnostics. I recall the previous owner saying he was only running 12 psi (probably because of the blown turbo) and the car is only running that right now, but is capable of 14. Thanks for the concern. I can see how this might have looked with the lack of information I initially provided.
