New to the club, life long gen 1 driver

I drove my first RX7 (mayan gold, GSL) off the show-room floor in 1983. Except for a brief time when the need for a back seat (for kids) drove me to another car, I have been driving them ever since. (As soon as my son turned 16, I gave him my other car (Eagle Talon) and went back to driving RX7's. I currently drive a 1982 Gen 1. burnt red GSL. It is in pretty good shape but the mid-west weather is eating my rear fenders.

I need to find a good pair of rear fenders with no rust. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Great to be in the club. Love driving my rotary rocket. Wife drives an SUV that looks like everything else on the road.

Greatest RX7 moment-1. driving my first one off the showroom floor in 1983. They opened up the side of the showroom, moved some potted plants, and away I went. (Mattoon Ill.) 2. Racing a Ford Mustang on backroads for about 30 miles, still in Southern Illinois. Road was as straight as an arrow with nobody else on it. 3. Taking my second RX7 to Tennesee from norther illinois to make a friends wedding. "Hitched" a ride on the tail bumper of a Cadillac in Kentucky. Since my 82 speedometer topped out at 85, I had to do some mathematical extrapolation with my Tachometer to figure out we were doing about 125MPH.

Worst RX7 moment. finding my first RX7 after I had sold it years before. NEVER go look for your first car. It had been in the hands of philistines. for some reason, they had removed the interior (gold and brown fabric) and replaced it with this puke green interior. Front half of the exterior was still original. They had also spray painted the rims a tacky gold, and were proudly "re-wiring" the car.... all sides had suffered some sort of impact. On one side it looked like they had tried to push a bowling ball through it....

lesson learned. I will keep my current RX7 no matter what.
