I recently had a rear engine/transmission seal leak fixed.........almost $1000..........

Still leaks.

Here is a list of problems:

1. Leak (described above)
2. Hesitates....stumbles 90% of the time while trying to HARD accelerate. (So is is electrical.....vacuum......Turbo???)

Some times.........if the turn the car off..........then back on.........the car will accelerate and boost like a beast.......

But........if I turn it off........and back on.........it stops at 0 on the boost gauge.....and stumbles/hesitates badly......so I have to back off the acceleration and slowly accelerate.....but still stops caps off at 0.

I started changing hoses throughout engine.........but I really believe its electrical. Maybe a sensor.....or some pump resetting each time the vehicle is shut off and turned on.

Anybody have a similar problem?

I am seriously hoping I don't have to replace the engines and turbos.

You're so lucky to have a 99+ J-spec rx7! It's not even yet legal here in Canada

Sounds electrical as you say the condition changes when you turn on and off again. But a big issue with the twin system can be the solenoids- vaccum routing.

Best is to check all the hoses and clamps, then go to solenoids.

im sure theyres a way to get the car to the states! hmm..

cazanubes 09-19-09 09:46 AM

Hello there man nice that you got one did you get it to the state?

dirtyred2009 09-19-09 10:12 AM

I have written DOT and I am asking them for a Exemption. If that does not work.....looks like 2 ways to bring this back.

1. Show / Display. I will buy another RX7.....the Spirit R. There was only 500 of the 3 Spirit Rs made, for a total of 1500. 500 or less makes it rare or limited according to NHSTA.

2. Take the engine and transmission out of my 2000 RX7.......ship only the car as a parts vehicle. Maybe buy American engine and transmission.

What do you all think?

I am gonna try changing the fuel pump. If that does not work......I will try some sensors....maybe the injectors.
