JDM FD3S Australia

Hey guys, this is my 2001 RX7. I flew to Melbourne to buy it and drove it back to Sydney. The pillow ball bushes were shot and it bottomed out on every pothole. I fixed all that shit, and now here it is looking sweet.

Other stuff I've added:
  • Bilsteins and Tein S-Techs
  • Enkei RPF1 17x9 and 255/40R17 KU36
  • Solid engine and diff mounts
  • 3.5" turbo back exhaust and ported wastegate
  • Full hectic pod filters
  • Manual boost controller
  • Lightweight battery
  • 93 rear swaybar
Obviously I also removed the spare, tools, sound system, twin turbo junk and all the other rubbish.

Hoping to purchase some coilovers shortly, if all goes well I should have some shock dyno charts to share. :icon_tup:

I like it.....

welcome , clean fd

There was a fault in the sequential system so I removed it, and at the same time I also got rid of all the other non-essential clutter in the engine bay. Air separation tank, air pump, all the throttle body shit, blow off valves, etc. Redid all the vacuum hoses in silicone. Much simpler and easier to work on now.

Including the spare wheel, tools, the lightweight battery, the exhaust and the sound system, I think I've removed close to 50kg. :D

Thanks Daniel! Yeah it's a great colour, turns a lot of heads.

No Limp Mode

Are you still running stock ecu? When I paralleled and removed much of the same stuff, the stock ECU showed nine codes and keep throwing the car into limp mode. I have power FC now.

Yep still stock ECU, I did the resistor trick and it started up first go, no codes. The idle lopes slightly since removing the air pump but no big deal.

I'm planning on upgrading to a Link ECU later, but I want to buy new coilovers and tyres this year so that will have to wait.

Parallel FTW!

Air Control Valve

Did you delete the air control valve? I understand the stock ECU adjusts for the expected bypass air that the acv sends to the exhaust directly, but before the O2 sensor, bypassing the combustion chamber and thereby causing the O2 sensor to lie to the ECU. IN other words, the ECU expects the bypass air to be there, even if it isn't, and adjusts the mix accordingly.

Yes indeed, and what you've described sounds like it could well be true, but I didn't look into it that deeply to be honest. I tried unplugging the air pump first and it ran ok, so I deleted it.

Forgot this one, the stock clutch started slipping when I did the exhaust so I swapped it for an Exedy twin plate ceramic. :icon_tup: Took a bit of getting used to, the friction point is very narrow and it grabs really hard.

Wow. That color is incredible.

mrselfdestruct1994 02-09-17 04:57 PM

One more then, kinda ruined by the stock ride height but still pretty cool.

Engine Bay Shot

Engine bay shot please.

FFR818 02-10-17 01:32 AM

That colour is just unreal! Nice ride man. Definitely would look better lowered a bit IMO.

mrselfdestruct1994 02-10-17 05:27 AM

Nothing special in the engine bay yet I'm afraid, just some temporary filters.

Yeah I would like to lower it a bit more but it bottoms out already on these 8/6kg springs. Soon!

FFR818 02-10-17 09:25 AM

Nothing special maybe, but damn clean!

Redbul 02-10-17 03:50 PM

Damn clean, is special.

mrselfdestruct1994 02-10-17 04:51 PM

Hey thanks guys, you're too nice :D I'm not happy with the intake setup but I'd like to go single turbo in the long run so no point spending too much time on it.
