Introducing Self
Hi all;
I am a pilot and flight instructor; my RX7 is my second (fun) car. My other vehicle is a 94 Pontiac Bonneville. My RX7 is a 1986 'base' model which has been (and continues to be) extensively reworked since I acquired it in 1997. Work/mods/upgrades to date: Rebuit engine (Atkins rotary) Rebuilt transmission (Pop's transmissions) High performance anti-sway bars (Suspension Technologies) Struts by Tokico Progressive springs with 3/4" lowering by Tokico Front bushings by Energy Suspension 17" wheels (American Racing) 245 x 17 tires Power steering (car did not come with it) Grant steering wheel Short shifter (Mazdatrix) Shift knob (Momo) Custom grey leather interior K&N performance intake Air horns Taillights & mirrors from an '89 Painted 'give me a ticket' red uising the 89-91 scheme Latest project: Alarm (Black Widow w/special modifications) Power door locks I do the lighter work myself, and farm out the heavy stuff. |
Well, that covers the car rather well, but what's the name? What made you pick up the FC in the first place? Inquiring minds need to know!:lol:

I chose the car for a couple of reasons: I am an engineer, and I have always admired the technology of the rotary engine. I also like the way it runs (same power strokes per revolution as a 12 cyl engine). And the 86-91 body style has always been my favorite among the RXs. If I had it to do over I would get an 89-91, but I am gradually upgrading mine to that standard anyway. Gene |
Welcome aboard, Gene! There's a smattering of engineers on the site, a whole bunch of hardcore SCCA-type racers (no offense meant, NASA guys n' gals...) plus just a whole bunch of folk who simply drive the poor FC beasts into the ground, so there's a little bit of entertainment, learning and Greek style tragedy to be found regarding the 2ndgen cars at RX-7 Club. The 2ndgen crowd actually represents the majority group here, as a matter of fact.
