Hi I', Greg and thinking of popping my rotary cherry...
Hey guys,
I've been a long time car enthusiast and mechanic. I turn wrenches in my spare time and just finished a 98 subaru rs project. Now I'm looking to try my hand with an RX7. Recently I found an 86 FC NA. The body appears to be in good shape and the engine bay is empty. The owner was part way through a rebuild and was told a divorce is forcing the sale. Some cars I've owned and rebuilt: 90 Eagle Talon TSi 96 Eagle Talon TSi 03 Tacoma rock crawler 96 Ford Bronco 87 Nissan 200SX 02 WRX These are vehicles I've at least had the motor out at one time or another. From here I plan to read read read your stickies and determine wether I want to dive into rotaries this winter. My plan is to rebuild the motor over the winter, drive the car for bit and sell. The owner is asking a grand for the car with a ton of extras and the motor is in pieces. As far as I can tell at this point there is a bag of OEM seals, springs and gaskets. New bearing were pressed in each rotor along with stationary gear. The crank is shiney and new looking. If I decide to jump in I hope I don't get screwed to hard. Thanks for the great forum guys. Keep up the good work. Greg |
