Hello Non-Piston people

RX-7 club,

I would like to say Hi to a new community of enthusists. I started my car life restoring and racing datsuns (the RX-7 nemisis amung some of my buddies). Then later moved on to a 2G Eclipse GS-T fwd, which I liked but will never go with another front wheel drive platform again. Recently I got an assignment to Japan an bought an RX-7 twin turbo, which I really love! This car rocks! So now I am reformed from being an exclusive datsun fan and am now a new RX-7 junkie. Thanks in advance to those that have posted info which I will undoubtly rely upon. Expect the same from me.

Respectfully,
Giantkiller

Yeah, I love old Datsuns. I've had a 240Z, 260Z and 280ZX. Just the other day I was scouting junkyards for FB parts and I saw a '69 240Z sitting on the ground with no wheels and the front end pulled off. Almost brought a tear to my eye.

Thumbs up Datsun memories

My first Datsun was a red 77 280z. I could not get the title to the car for 2 years. Spent my high school life dreaming of the unattainable. Then by the time I got it, it rusted underneath so badly that I had to salvage the car. Then I got another 77 this time silver and in great condition. I modified it heavily and did an apprenticship with a shop that raced datsuns, That really hooked me. I started autocrossing the car in solo II events. I eventually wrecked it and it was totalled. Lincoln Mark VIII pulled out in front of me. I bought another 280z (1976 and silver again) Which I modified to a 400hp, and uncontrolable monster. I was young and stupid, drank and drove, and wrecked it; nearly killed myself. Thank god no one else was hurt. I later got a 280zx turbo and I put whatever parts I could from the wrecked datsun to the ZX. I delivered pizzas in it through college and later sold it to get an 2G eclipse GS-T once I joined the military. Then I PCS'd to Japan and got the RX-7 with the 13BREW. One day I'll find pictures and post this progression.

Thanks for the welcome,
Jeff

Great stories, man. The cars may be gone, but you'll remember them forever. Are you in the Marines or Navy? What base in Japan? My brother did four in Okinawa in the Marines. I never made it to Japan when I was in the Navy, but I had dreams of leaving the military over there and staying to scout junkyards and sell regular JDM stuff on eBay to Americans for fat cash.
