Hello New ato RX7.com

Hello, allow me to introduce myself. I'm David, a new owner of a 1985 gsl-se. This is my first 7, but back in the late 70's I owned, rebuilt, and drove all over the western United States an RX3. I was in college; rebuilt the engine in my dorm room. When I bought the car it was burning a quart of oil in about 2 blocks. No mosquitos in our neighborhood. I rebuilt it, drove it to Dallas, or at least toward Dallas. I then learned that if you install the rear bearing wrong, it does not get oil and it locks up. At 75 mph the rear end locking up on the freeway was an interesting event. Ah well, ancient history.

In 1985, my wife and I needed a new car, she was driving a 1980 626, so we were looking at Mazdas. We could not afford the RX7, which was what she wanted, but had to settle for another 626. I bought this RX7 on impulse last Friday. Much cheaper than a new one in 85. Currently it is on jackstands in my shop awaiting a new clutch. I have it just about torn apart; awaiting the return of my other floor jack to back the transmission out.

New to the RX7, but cars are my hobby; the RX7 is sharing shop space with assorted old British cars, mostly MGs. I am familiar with wrenching, but I'll be asking a few questions every so often about the 7, especially when it comes time to tackle the rust spots.
