Hello from buff

I've just joined this forum and thought I'd introduce myself and see what I can learn from reading other people's threads.

My first and only RX7 ownership experience was a long time ago in the early 1980's. I purchased a Sonic Bronze 1979 RX7 from a work colleague in the spring of 1983 in the Chicago area. I'm pretty sure it was an S model, and it had the plaid interior. I really enjoyed that car, as I was single and there were few things in my universe that would have made me happier than having a pretty woman and me driving down the road in my RX7.

About 8 months later, I landed my first outside sales job which came with a company car, which costs me absolutely nothing. The company paid the car lease, gasoline, maintenance, insurance, etc. I continued to have company cars in my various sales jobs for the next 32 years. Being a bit too practical, and not living anywhere that I could store the RX7, I decided to sell it.

Later I got married, and family finances prevented me from pursuing classic cars with any real ability to purchase one that I would want. Finally, after our kids graduated from the University of Kansas (11' & 14") and became self supporting adults in New York City, I purchased a beautiful 1951 Studebaker Champion, which I still have for the time being.

I'm active in our local car club, the Kingwood Classic Cruisers which meets every Saturday morning. Recently, a member brought in a copy of the a recent Hemmings magazine. The cover had a picture of a 1980 Corvette and a 1979 RX& and it featured a comparison test. Furthermore, the RX7 was the same color, same interior, as the one had owned.

Now, the RX7 bug has bitten me once again, and I love to find a really nice 1st generation RX7 to own. My wildest dream would be to find another Sonic Bronze 1979 model.
