new guy

Ok, so let me try again. I'm close to ownership of a 1985 rx7 gsl. It's been sitting for 7 yrs but is in really great shape. It does need some work but I've gotten it running and am waiting on the title to be sent from Japan where the actual owner now lives. You can imagine i'm pretty anxious having to wait when the deal has already been made to buy it. As soon as I have it I will post some before and after pics since it it very dirty.

Hello again

Hey guys. Name's Kelly and i'm from High Point, NC. :icon_tup:Just wanted to say hello again. I've been doing a lot of reading on the site and you guys have given me a ton of info. I found a used gas tank in a junk yard that was in really great shape and have been cleaning and prepping it to go into the 7. I can't wait to really get started on the car itself. Thanks for all the info and good advice you have been posting.

Well, Kelly, I really don't know why everyone passed over your first intro thread but I had to combine them here. Reckon the trooper thing got 'em spooked. That is a crazy situation you've got going there with the title but possession is 9/10th's of the law, right? In Texas, it's a 6 month wait to apply for a new title if there is a dispute or the original owner has disappeared. I had to go that route with the '84 but I got my clean, blue title in 6 months when the DMV couldn't locate the last owner on record.

Have fun with the '85 and welcome aboard to RX-7 Club! The more 1stgen folk who join, the better! Got a couple of the old FB's myself.

Thanks Mar3. I guess the Trooper thing did spook em. Hey, State Troopers are people too....at least when we don't have you pulled over anyway. Anyhow, the owner is actually in Japan and her father has the car. Just driving me nuts waiting on the phone call to say he has the title and to come get it. Already buying replacement parts. Thanks for the welcome and all of the good tips.

Hey, what junkyard did you snatch that up from? I am trying to get some suspension parts for my FC. If you remember please let me know as I have called quite a few places and found nothing. :/

Welcome NCTROOPER! Another NCer here. BTW, thanks for keeping our roads safe! Please keep that in mind if you see a black GSL-SE getting a little too quick on the back roads ;-) J/K
Good luck with the car. I'm getting mine back into shape also. Except for a radiator leak, it drives really well, just loose and old in places. Fits me nice too.
