Greetings from Central Florida!

Hi everyone, we are new here so I thought I'd check in and share our "story"...

We just bought a 1st gen GSL-SE ITA/IT7 scca car. We will be using it as a second team car for our road racing adventures in the Chumpcar series. Our team name is Lead Sled Racing, our first car is a Lincoln Towncar (seriously). People laugh at it until we pass them - its kinda sporty. With the addition of the RX7 we have gone from one extreme to the other I suppose

Personally, I have done quite a bit of circle track racing, drag racing, and now some road racing. I am a machinist/tool & die maker by trade, now I work as a tooling design engineer.

We do our own building, fabrication, and maintenance work on the cars as well.

I thought getting on the forum would be a good place to learn and research the RX7.

We are in the greater Daytona Beach area, so if there is anyone close by, drop a message and say hi.

Thanks,
David Castello / Lead Sled Racing

It seems a lot of poor lil' 1stgen RX-7's are starting to become road fodder for these new crazy grassroots sporting events. Wuddupwitdat? Well, at least it was already a converted race car. I see ITA/IT7, I think gutted interior with a welded in rollcage. Have fun with the car and the event and drop in some pics of the beast on the track.

Yes, it was already a converted race car, over all for a race car it is in pretty good shape but there is no hope for it as a street machine, she has her battle scars from the track for sure...

The motor in it is wounded, it runs but the front chamber isn't making any power. I would assume it is the apex seals - it doesn't smoke excessively and the oil pressure is great. We were up in the air as far as what to do - keep it rotary or have a little fun with a motor swap... Rotary stuff I see can be a little pricey so we are leaning towards a motor swap, plus 1st gen parts aren't getting any easier to find. I hope we do not alienate ourselves too much with the purists on the board :)

I'll post up some pics in it's current state - maybe I'll go check out the 1st gen. boards and start our own car/build thread there and keep it all organized.
