Greetings from Canada!

Hey Guys,

I'm Jessica, I work for Audi, and I love RX-7! Fell in love with an 85 a few years ago when a friend had one and we took it to autocross! Amazing! Just bought my 84 GSL, and can't wait to get working on it! Although the weather in Calgary, Alberta doesn't really permit for driving year round, I have a heated garage where it will be stored until the snow is gone!

Hey Jessica, I am a new member from Melfort, Saskatchewan. I know what you mean our weather on the prarries doesn't agree to the wishes of all round the year driving. Welcome to RX7club :)

I'm Taj, and I'm from Burnaby BC and the temperature is pretty mild here. I can drive my FC year round hehe but we dont get as many sunny days. Good tires are probably the most important thing...

Hi welcome to the club , I am a new member here as well but own / have owned lots of rotary cars. My 83 GSL is currently in the shop getting re-painted for the spring ; glad to see you and others are into the first generation RX's. Spring isn't that far away ! Cheers.

Yeah , quite a bit . I am currently running a 4 port 13B I built a few years ago ; 74-75 RX4 block , huge monster ports with an old school Rotary Engineering dual Weber set-up , Racing Beat alum flywheel and full RB exhaust , Gilmer belt drive etc. It showed 188 RWHP on the dyno about 1-1/2 years ago ; its a real useable everyday motor.

Wow! that looks awesome! Why don't you have the ac hooked up?? Any port pics?? Streetport? Video?

Hey guys thanks for all the warm welcomes! I'm glad to see im not the only rotary lover here! We took my friends '85 GSL to autocross last year, it was amazing!!! too bad you guys aren't a little closer to Calgary or we could go on Sunday drives haha!

welcome all. noticed urs don't have it but the 74 rx4 engine i'm using had the sensor in the top of the center housing.

Redline-RX3 01-17-11 10:39 AM

Currently I don't have the factory AC hooked up (it works!) because I can't run the belt for the compressor from the Gilmer drive pulleys. Michael , to answer your question , the sensor on top of the center housing on the RX4 engines was for pollution control. When I built this (and most other) motors I always update with the latest parts available. In this case I used RX7 12A nitrided end housings as they last way longer than the early RX4 / Repu housings , thus no sensor.

rxtasy3 01-17-11 11:46 AM

o i know it's emissions related and i made a plate to cover mine, but yeah i figured u probably used 12a intermediate housings. but claiming it's a 74-75 block is inaccurate because ur not actually using the whole block, just parts of it.

Redline-RX3 01-18-11 10:32 AM

OK , I stand corrected , it is a 1974-75 RX4 block with the exception of all the iron housings and oil pan. When I start with a rebuild of a core motor and use all of its internals and rotor housings and misc parts , that is generally the basis of my engine. So today I'll call it the Frankenstein 13B!
