Getting back into my FD in Houston TX

Hi ya'll! My name is Jake and I live in Kingwood TX (Houston suburb).

I've got a 94 FD that I drove from 1999 to 2005. It went down (I think with a seal obviously) in 2005 and I've been hauling it all across the country every time I've moved waiting for some cash to get it fixed. Having 4 kids in the interim probably had something to do with no available cash. Alas - they are all girls so no more car people in my family :(.

Anyway - I've kept the car nearly 10 years and finally have some coins to spend on getting it running.

Planning on spending some time here researching what the latest tech improvements since then and then looking for a mechanic / shop to do the work.

I consider myself a technical person and car guy who does alot of their own work but since the car went down after I was working on it (replaced a turbo - hoses, etc.) I'm gonna need professional help.

Looking forward to getting back into this car

Welcome! I come to Houston pretty frequently (live in Austin). Hope to see you on the (pothole-filled) roads!

Welcome to Houston. There's some good guys here. Some that can rebuild the motor if you need. I'd change the fluids, check the belts , turn it by hand a bit, then crank her up and see if it even catches. Or just get a compression test.

Sounds good I'll be posting my build thread soon I just started upgrading all the suspension parts on my car then working on reliability mods and tuning soon with the adaptronic:). No rx7 events that I know of but their is a car meet in Kemah at the Home Depot every Saturday night and tea works car meet Friday nights.

I'll look for that thread!. I'm gonna finish off the reliability mods first. Since I've got to get the engine re-built, I'm considering a street port. Still deciding.

That sounds good I'll be installing my reliability mods after the suspension work and I'll be doing a street port on my engine when I rebuild it's going to be great.

Are you doing the engine yourself or having someone else do it?
