future FD owner on vancouver island

hey guys, new to forum. iv been reading the threads for about 6 months while i pondered buy an FD. im buying one in the next couple weeks from a guy in kelowna.
93,000 kms and a minor dent in the passenger door. only thing i have a question about is, am i being too optimistic thinking i can drive this car 6 hours back home to the island? i know the rotary isnt as bad as everyone says but im just a bit nervous about buying one so far away and driving such a long distance home? once its home its installing a silicone hose set, a Power FC that are in the garage waiting. car looks clean from the pictures iv seen and the guys seems to have taken good care of it.

what are your thoughts as veterans of the FD scene?

I traded a car for an FD in Kamloops. Drove it to Nanaimo no issues. Just gotta verify that the car is healthy (coolant test, compression)

im new to this forum but not new to rotorys. Just like any car if its been beat on and had a hard life and esspecially lack of maint. will kill any car. just be sure to have it checked out before dropping the cash by someone who KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING on rx7's....

Good luck!

Welcome to another Canadian.

I'd make sure to do your homework on the car before showing up. See if the owner is up to get a compression test done. Also doesn't hurt not to drive the wheels off it on the way home.

ill probably have to wait till im closer to home before i get into the boost.
5 hour drive is a big tow bill, just in case. im a licensed mechanic so im not too worried if it breaks later down the road. i just got a job at Comox valley Nissan so i have all the hoists and equipment i could need and the mazda dealer is about 500 feet from my hoist at work so no biggie if i need to get a little mazda magic done. the guy im gonna get it from was using it as a daily driver until a few weeks ago when the insurance ran out. he is selling it for tuition money and the car looks immaculate with only a few mods with no Power FC. im ordering a full rebuild kit, silicone vaccum kit, and a Power FC as my first stage of mods just for reliability.
and then just drive it and enjoy it for a while before the tuner bug bites again.
