Salutations fellow rotary lovers,
The very first car I bought when i was in highscool was a 1983 rx7, i loved that car. I unfortunately totalled it 2 weeks before leaving for basic training, still brings tears to my eyes when i talk about it. I have wanted another FB ever since. My long wait has finally come to an end after 15 years. I have recently acquired a 1985 rx7 GS, it needs some love and attention but im excited to dig in. After driving it around and really finding all the work it needs done I find myself with a few unanswered questions.

Eventually i will be putting a new exhuast on, the whole thing is pretty rusted out. I plan on getting the RB muffler and manifold. Beings that im a tig welder ill be making my own connection pipe. My question for this part is do i need the RB presilencer or could i just use a glass pack in its place?

My next question: I plan on doing the ATF treatment but i also have other repairs to do (intake manifold gasket and replace the oil pan gasket.) How long can the ATF sit in the motor? these repairs will be stretched over a month or 2 because i have to buy parts on different pay checks.

This question me be reduntant but i will ask it anyway. While doing the intake manifold i will be installing freeze plugs, on another forum i read that using white rtv silicone is necessary. Does it mater if it is black RTV?

As i mentioned before I am a welder, tig and mig, mostly stainless but mild i can do as well. Thin wall tubing is my specialty, which will come in handy for my exhaust. With that said i can answer any questions related to welding and if anyone needs some parts fabbed up my shop has all the equipment needed. I look forward to getting to know all of you. I will be posting pics of my FB as the project goes on.

Cheers,
David
