Finally made an account

Hello all,
Names Matthew, prior service USMC and now live in Japan permanently. Own a 1996 type RB Bathurst. I have lurked these forums since 2010 or so but never made an account since I never actually owned an rx7.

I am a mostly DIY kind of guy, and my hobbies include 3d modeling, printing, and working/learning all types of cars. Thinking about a build thread but I feel like I'm too late to the party haha.

Anyways, glad to be here and always thankful for all the information that is within this website.

welcome to the forum. really nice FD there. first off, thank you for your service. as for a build thread, yes. if no pictures of the process, then just make it a story of the process with current pictures.

Congratulations on being able to stay in 沖縄. It was a dream for many of us and without getting married, almost impossible. Surprised as a marine you wanted to stay. Majority of you guys hate it there. I was shocked to find out the nickname "okitraz". Of course air force people live a much different lifestyle there 😎. I left in 2015 but have been back to visit quite a few times since then. Maybe the environment for marines has changed over the years.

2015 - 2018 was a very rough time frame, lucky you missed it haha! The restrictions became incredibly strict but the Marines held that resentment towards the leadership and not Okinawa (for the most part). Also yes, a lot has changed and you would not believe it..
For example there's no curfew for Marines and the process to get a driver's license is VERY easy.

You should come visit again! The yen rate is very generous compared to our days! Maybe I could even introduce you to both the small American and Japanese rx7 communities here.
