Figured I should start here
 

I'm currently a freshman in college (from Long Island, NY), finishing up my first year for an automotive management degree. It took me until now to realize that an RX-7 FD is a dream car for me and I want to start gathering as much info as possible on these cars as they are very different from anything else on the road.

Let me be the first to say, learning about the fd from text and pictures will give you a theoretical understanding of the car. You need to actually have your hands on this stuff to grasp how things work. You can definitely gain a lot from reading the information on here but your understanding will be limited to your imagination. Pictures and videos do a lot but the hands on is essential. I wish you luck though. You have set a goal for yourself and legitimately hope you reach it.

What is an automotive management degree? What does that qualify for?

Thanks for the reply! Im definitely more of a hands-on learner to be completely honest. An automotive management degree is a Bachelors at the school I am currently attending and, from my understanding, prepares students for owning their own shop or possibly becoming a higher-ranking personal for any automotive company. Its a solid mix between business and just straight up how to work on cars and make repairs. So far it has been the opportunity of a lifetime, but I want to try something a little more interesting than a regular motor. These cars have always been a fascination of mine and I think I'm finally ready to start preparing to purchase one.

How much actual experience do you have

Honestly, very little engine experience. Most of my knowledge as of right now is chassis. I'm imagining it's going to be a hell of a difficult time learning rotary without much engine experience to begin with.
