Driving an RX-7 in the snow.
Like a complete idiot.
Hi everyone. I'm from Ontario, Canada, and I've just bought my first running FC. I've owned 3 non-running FCs before, but never got to drive them. One was branded irreparable, so it was a bit of a disaster overall. Now I've picked up a 1989 Turbo, and I'm hoping things will go a little better this time (though I'm not off to the best start, getting a turbo RHD RWD car in the middle of winter when I've never even driven manual shift before? Genius). Like I said, a complete idiot. The FC has always been my favorite car, so it's amazing to finally be driving one (albeit rather badly). I think I was on the TeamFC3S boards before (possibly these boards as well), but it's been such a long time that all my RX-7 knowledge has just faded away. I'll be doing a lot of reading but probably won't have much to contribute for a long time. Pictures will follow eventually. |
yeah pix!

Some photos! Needs a bit of work. Those stupid blue lights need to go, and eventually I'd like to get a front bumper that actually matches the car (maybe the stock front bumper if I can find one, or something similar). The rims don't look that bad, but I feel like a bit of an idiot driving a Mazda that has rims with "Nissan" stamped on them.

I'll probably start looking for a bumper in the summer, or next year. Too much money being spent right now.

Ontario winters are cold, but the roads are only really bad a few times during the winter. I drive a bus every day, and even though I was really worried about driving all winter it hasn't actually been that awful. It's cold, but the roads are clear 98% of the time. Not sure what Alberta is like in the winter, but it must be worse being further north! Edit: Man, I just looked out the window and saw this. Glad I don't have to be anywhere tomorrow. |
driving in mn snow
We get Quite a bit of snow here in Minnesota. I think driving in the snow will help you learn to drive a stick. the slickness of the roads will be more forgiving of bad clutch application.

Front bumper looks pretty good to me. Could use the side skirts that should match the front valance though. As for the Nissan markings, if they're the cast in markings, a little JB Weld and fresh paint on the wheels should file off the incriminating evidence quite well.

Nice pics and I agree thats a bad ass scooby in the background.

I'll compete for "cruellest things to do to a beautiful car". Living near Pembroke Ontario, and my 84 GSL is my daily driver! I brought her across from AB back in August and now drive her into Ottawa and back (4-hr round trip) twice a week. No snow tires...
Tee_why good to know someone else near here has an FB! |
