CA Current BMW guy; Future FD guy

Hey everyone,

New here and just wanted to make my introduction. Been a traditional car guy for a while and only drive RWD manuals; I do all my work myself and if there’s something I don’t know how to fix, I figure it out. Currently don’t have anything propelled by the almighty Triangles as I was always a Naturally Aspirated German/BMW guy for the longest time and never really cared for anything Turbo-powered until I got myself a BMW 335i with an N54. As many of you may or may not know, those come with factory twin-turbos and immediately I grew to love the Twin-Turbo platform shortly after working on it, and fixing it, and modding it, and driving it. It’s been a wonderful and comfortable daily and I love the thing to pieces. However, with the “daily” itch scratched, ive turned my attention to scratching my “toy” itch and I’be I always had a soft spot for the mystical Japanese 90s Sports-Cars due to a little mix of Fast and Furious in my childhood and appreciation for the general automotive titans in my adulthood and thus my desire to one day own an FD is slowly creeping on the horizon.

Hoping to one day add an FD to the mix of cars I own, so just looking to make an account here, get aquatinted, and see what the future brings

Welcome to the board.

BMWs are definitely high on my list of automotive loves. I've not been much of a huge fan of the modern engines, though I really dig the cars themselves. I mean I know why they made certain changes. I get it. I'm just not sure how I feel about the execution of it.

You made a great choice coming here. Whenever you do get your Rx-7, you are sure to have the support you will need. Good luck.

We have similar views on cars! I'm another BMW guy, prefer RWD manual cars. I DIY just about everything on all my cars. My current stable includes an E46 M3, E90 M3, and an s2k. Good luck w/ your search for an FD! I'm passively looking as well. Just waiting for the right one to come along!

+1 to this! I just sold my F32 435i M Sport (6 speed/RWD) and am purchasing a JDM FD this week. I just joined the forum too!

Real nice. I think the E46 is my favorite M3 so far.

Same. I recently picked up my E46 to replace my E90. I plan on keeping it for a long time.

Welcome. For the longest time I was contemplating upgrading the daily to a mint E46 ZHP, but I've decided to hold off and hopefully invest those funds in a clean FD.

Two very different worlds between Bavarian precision and Japanese robustness.. but you gotta love each for what they bring to the table.

I gave getting one some serious thought, myself, back in 2007-ish. I was thinking about the E46 M3 or a 350Z - somehow I ended up getting an Rx-8. Go figure.

Question is... Would you do it all over again? Haha.

Honestly? It's going to depend on the day you ask me. There were times when I really wondered about that. However, with all that said ... my answer for today is ... yes!

Came from Mitsubishi myself. New FD owner and Member as well. Always wanted one but took me about 10 year longer then it should have. Decided to pick one up before pricing gets crazy. I went back and forth for years about getting a FD but after 10 DSMs most of them over 450-500hp and a Evo. I wanted something new. Got a FD in the garage now.

Drew.
