Cosmo swapped first gen

Hey guys, I just decided to register to this forum after stalking it for about 6 months now. Ive finally started to make progress on my car so now I feel like im in a comfortable position to post about it. This is my second first gen, I have a 1982 rolling shell in my garage for parts or whatever else i decide to use it for. Its super clean with no rust which is very rare for a Canadian car. My plan was to use that car as the basis for my build but then another car came up that I couldnt pass up. It is a 1983 base model with a 13b Re out of a jc cosmo in it. I bought the car after it sat around for a couple years due to a low compression engine that wouldnt run. After the swap the car only had about 2000km but on it before it lost compression in the front rotor. The car was originally built as a drift car (It wont be staying a drift car) and has an interesting backstory. The guy who had the car built to begin with actually got the car sponsored by Techno Toy Tuning, Mishimoto and Aem so there are lots of goodies on the car that were not mentioned when i bought the car. Of course i had to strip the entire car down to a bare shell because i dont trust buying modified cars because of the sketchy work that ive seen done on cars. (I work at a dealership so ive seen a lot of DIY repairs done by people who should not be touching a wrench lol) The car is in the process of being put back together right now, the deadline is spring so that I can get the car on the road and enjoying her next summer. If anyone wants to know more details on the build let me know because id love to go more in depth, but dont want to bore people just skimming the introduction threads haha. Of course i have to add pictures.

Whoah -- that is gorgeous! Congratulations on picking it up. Welcome and nicely done on an interesting introduction. I think stripping it down is a fair call, it's more satisfying when you're driving something you know inside and out anyway. You should definitely make a thread in the 1st Gen builds section once you can, I'm sure I'm not the only one that would love to see it! Best of luck getting it up and running, I'm sure you'll have an absolute blast this summer .

Welcome! Very nice FB!!!! I don't blame you with wanting to make sure the work performed is up to your standards.

Thanks I知 so excited to drive it for the first time. Once I hit my post numbers to be able to post wherever I will for sure be starting a build thread because I知 sure I知 going to need help from the experts to be able to get this car done lol. The swap itself was done pretty neatly but the wiring looks like a 4 year old threw it together. Overall I知 glad I took it apart because there was a lot of bolts that were not tightened at all.

Thanks, a lot of the work was done well but the last like 20% was just thrown together. I get the feel that the original owner was trying to rush to get the car on the road. I知 definetly excited to start putting it back together and see what it can do.

Thanks! I love the whole look of this car. Once I change up some of the hacked things on it, it should look even better.

The car looks very nice.

I'm not familiar with the 13B-RE, do you know why the upper intake manifold is shaped so differently than the 13B-REW? Looks like it has a plenum volume section similar to the 20B.

Thank you! I知 no expert in rotary engines but I知 pretty sure that the three rotor and the re share the same size intake ports meaning they use the same manifold, just missing a runner. The elite manifold for the rew is basically identical to a stock re manifold. The reason they are different is because the re has massive intake ports compared to an rew because the Cosmo is a much heavier vehicle and it needed more torque to be drivable. The exhaust ports on an re are very small from the factory which I知 pretty sure also helps with the torque.
