I am the proud new owner of a silver 79 GS that is identical to the car I drove in college, except that this car is spotless. My original car took me through many Minnesota winters and glorious summers all those years ago, and now I have the honor of being the custodian of a pristine twin to the car of my youth. I also have a '76 Triumph TR6 that is a hoot to drive, but the Rx-7 will occupy the prime garage space now. Looks like my wife will be parking outside ;-)

sweeeett! welcome to the club. did u happen to find out any history on the car? get it from the original owner? more pix. how many miles? plan to keep it stock and enjoy it?

I found the car at bringatrailer.com I was always interested in Rx-7s and what they were selling for, only because I had one and it was a fantastic car, and my wife and I drove it everywhere when were were dating in school. Then one day I saw the exact clone of my car in absolutely pristine condition and it was love at first sight all over again.

For pictures, you can go to bringatrailer.com and search the site for past Rx-7 auctions, and this car will come up as a recent sale. The previous owner is an extremely knowledgeable enthusiast (he has two more!), and there are over 100 photos and three videos.

My original car had thin black pinstriping along the fender line and around the back of the car, which I plan to replicate, but other than that, I'll keep this car exactly as it is because it is a museum piece.

Oh this was the car from Arizona!!!! This was Stu's buddy's car! What an absolute STUNNING example! You are very lucky to have the car! I'm extremely happy that the car brings back memories and that an RX-7 served you well for many years!! They really are great cars if cared for properly! Congratulations on buying this amazing car!!

Yes, I believe Stu is the commenter on the auction site that turned me on to this forum. Tim, the previous owner, is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, and he's been very accommodating during the sale and with the shipping. I am still smiling over getting this car; I got to drive it and it has exceeded all expectations

Yes, welcome aboard. This is the place to inquire and learn about these cars. You have a very nice platform from which to begin. Imagine your plans are occasional pleasure use, while keeping the car maintained and original. Sounds like a good plan and one that should make your purchase a good investment. Value's have been on a slow but steady rise, with your purchase helping to reaffirm confidence in the market. Normally, we'd all like to see more pic's but as you pointed out, there are already a ton of intimate detail shots on the BaT site.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys. The pictures Tim posted for the auction are better than anything I could get. Anyway, the car is currently in transit so I have to be content with watching the walkaround video over and over. I would be crazy not to keep this car completely original and will plan to drive around 2k mi/yr. I have a very capable TR-6 that I've been driving about 10k/yr. (I'd post a picture, but I don't want to defile this forum with British pistons). As for the value of the car increasing, it doesn't matter because I'll never sell it, my connection to this car transcends a dollar value.
