TX After 4 years of wanting and looking, She just walked in.

Ok guys,

My name is Christian and I am a Self proclaimed gear head. My whole family has been Honda owners and I have been to. I still have my first car (93 del sol) and its been through hell and back again. I am such a Honda head that I actually am a Sales & Finance Manager for a Honda Dealer here in Austin Texas. Even with VTEC running through my veins I could not control the Cuban and Puerto Rican urge to get an FD. I loved the body as a kid and continued to this day to gawk at it any time I saw one.

Let go back 4 years. I lived in Tampa Florida (school @ USF) and my search started there. I would flip acuras and Hondas to make some extra cash and thats when I decided to start my hunt for a 93 MB Touring. It HAD to be all 3. The First year of the first sequential setup in a production car with no other color than that beautiful Montego Blue. 1 owner, unmolested, Less Than 80k. Less than $14,000. That was the tuff one. when I had the Money, NOTHING was out there that fit. When I was broke, found a few. This continued from 2010-2014.

On 2-15-13 I had my beautiful daughter Ava. Wouldn't change a thing. A few weeks later my Fiance encourged me to sell a few of the cars I had and really hunt my 93 MB down so that I would be forever done toy car shopping. I obliged.

Months went by that nothing came up and I just told my self "F^#k it! I'm done". the FD will never be. that was in Febuary right after my daughters 1st Bday.

My Magical day was March 5th. I was off and sitting with my daughter when I received a text from a coworker- "come check out this trade in! its some rare Mazda". I immediately replied "I'm at home, pics ASAP". and the pic with specs came through.

1993
Mazda
RX-7
77k miles
Montego Blue
5spd
Touring
ONE OWNER- STOCK!

I went from 6 to midnight immediately and said " I want the owners info and the sales reps info" It belonged to a 68 yr old woman who bought it new who also owned a 1986 rx-7 that she still has! our trade evaluator would not put a number on it and told her "ma'am, it is a beautiful can, but I can't put a number on it, you will get more private sale". So I called her and scooped it up! All service records came with it as well as the Monroney label. so without further adieu, My 7.

Since I do have a duaghter and she will eventually be in the car, my first mod was the back seat. they were red and torn so I actually recovered them in black.

Next up was Making sure I can monitor the essentials so I went with the addition of a defi mechanical boost gauge and an innovative wideband housed by the ATI speaker pod.

And there you have it. I have a complete silicone hose kit, silicone upper and lower Rad hoses, the AST, and the Pettit Racing grounding kit as well. i hardly drive her and I'm pretty much saving up to drop it off at Rotary performance in Garland Texas to have the engine rebuilt and the entire cooling system upgraded followed by the PFC while its there. any and all comments are greatly appreciated!

PS: I just received a text from a local guy that has the KS style VIS or Seibon hood for sale in CF for $400, should I jump on it? I keep reading that a vented hood is highly recomended

I emailed her about it and she sold it just last week!! She bought a civic from us. Cool as old lady. Her dad raced rotaries and she was unbelievably knowledgeable and told me before I purchased- "now make sure you get to At least 5 thousand RPMs to feel the turbos working" she encouraged boost!

Congrats on the new car! I'm in search of a similar set up myself. Also finding it difficult to come across due to my location.

Is there a rust issue of any kind in Minnesota? I'm assuming so due to snow, that would worry me...

If you find a clean one near Austin Texas feel free to fly down and ill take you to go check it out!

So aluminum AST is installed and head light cover is getting painted! Stay tuned for pics!

Rust is definitely a concern but most people do not drive RWD cars in the winter which helps reduce the problem. I have seen a few in TX that might be worth looking at so I definitely appreciate the offer!

Ok, I have some mild progress! I picked up a Knight Sports style hood (seibon) , a Koyo Radiator, and a FEED style head light cover for a great price!

the is some damage but luckily nothing that cant be fixed . the hood is currently white and will be repainted Montego in order to look decent and not be confused for some of the riceroni i see around town.

Hood when purchased:

Damaged Corner:

Koyo Rad: and yes, a fin comb will be tending to this guy...

I scooped the hood without the grill insert but really wanted some... So off to lowes we went!

I came away with a screen door guard and some tin snips, here is what happend:

SO... thats it! I'm Taking it to get painted at a shop near my place and looking forward to seeing both the cover and the hood in Montego. also i have a question:

should the vent grills be montego of a matte black? either way is fine with me...

and as for the radiator- progress

Also on the Menu is a set of staggered 5zigen FN01r-C wheels 17x9 +48 and 17x10 +25!!! I'm pretty excited.

Thanks! Me too... MB is definitely my favorite and to be honest, the picture doesn't do the amount of pearl that you actually see justice. It's REALLY nice and its motivating me to paint the whole car!

Thanks! Both have been a blessing the Mazda is very similar to my daughter:
  1. Thirsty all the time
  2. temperamental
  3. needs her diaper (oil and filter) change often
  4. and can definitely aggravate the she out of me

but every time my car hits full boost, its almost just as gratifying as when my daughter talks to me in the morning before the gym. Makes all the nonsense worth every moment and every penny
