82 GSL from Minnesota

Loong time lurker, first time poster. Way too many people on this forum I have to thank for all the helpful posts.
I've owned an '82 GSL for around 3 years as a project car/ something to mess around in. It has all the suspension, brake, and tire goodies while still keeping the original 12a (w/ rb headers, modified nikki, and msd ignition). It's no FD for sure, but it spanks most miatas at autocross, and that's all I can really ask from it. Very fun car, just needs some mudflaps. I'd eventually like to have a group c replica kit, and nice livery on the car, but that's way down the line. More recently, I've been working on rebuilding a 13b PP to swap in, and have picked up a '79 parts car. |
Welcome!!! A couple of nice 7's you have there! Why is the 79 a parts car? Is it rusty? The early cars are gaining value and if the body is clean and straight and you have a clear title, it may be a good candidate for a restorstion!

Congrats and welcome to the site. Great place to ask questions and gain information. Does the 79 run? What color interior does it have? Brown by chance?

Welcome to the site. A lot of helpful people here. I also agree with mazdaverx713b. If the 79 RX7 has a solid body and not all rusted out I would leave it alone and restore it sometime down the line. These cars are becoming more hard to come by as time goes on. Hate to see one go to a early grave that could possible be saved.

Maybe I will restore it, who knows! The guy I got it from just wanted it out of there (botched ls swap project), and let it go for almost nothing.
I had it up on stands, the rust is minimal and manageable. It would definitely need a repaint, a lot of interior work, and the 12a from the black car, but it's doable. I'm not really in the collector market, but it could be nice as a (almost) stock SA. Interior is black, Banzai. :/ |
