2nd time RX7 owner

Hello all, I'm Chris. I have recently purchased a 1986 RX7 for my son & I to restore together. I did the responsible thing, according to Dave Ramsay, and sold my 1985 RX7 when my son was born. I could not convince the wife I could fashion a safe place to attache a car seat. :) So I bought a 1988 Old's 98 'broahm edition' ouch. At least the wife had to drive it. I took the 323 back.

I got this RX7 for his first car. He just got his learners permit on Tuesday 3-6. I got it on ebay for $500 so i did not break the bank. The previous owner was in the process of converting it to a 4 bbl carb but he said while it ran the carb leaked. That's why I joined this site. You already helped to to see the problem was with the fuel pump. We put a carb on it Saturday then got all the inspection items fixed. He is ecstatic about being able to drive this car. However I am still having a problem with the starter but have a local mechanic coming to look at it. I checked everything I knew to do with the starter, had it checked and it worked great at advanced but wouldn't jump or anything on the car. The motor will turn freely by hand so I am stumped.

Hope you see us driving it around town soon.

Hello, My name is Tony and I have been a proud owner of many RX7 for the past 25yrs (since High School). I currently bought an 86 GS for $2800 with 59k original miles and 100% original equipment... runs very well so far and I even get 19-20MPG's

Anyway, I was wondering about your starter problem... I had similar problems with previous RX7's with Ignition and starter so I'm hoping to be of help. Would you explain what is happening? Does it crank? Does it make a clicking sound without cranking? Does it start if you push the car on gear?
