1979 Rx7 (first car

Hi,

I bought my rx7 in the fall of 2020 and great condition other than some rips in the seats and cracks in the dash. I also need a radio which I am desperately looking for. I hope that someone could help me with finding one as I tried multiple places (retro sound, custom autosound, and Ronsons). I also am glad to be a part of this club.

Cameron.

Welcome to the forum! Would love to see pictures of the car! Do you know any of the car's history?

As for the radio, you will want to create a want to buy ad in the marketplace section. That's your best bet as this section is for introductions.

There is an image of my car.
I have the radio thing sorted out now because the slot for it was enlarged so I can now just tell the supplier the dimensions and hopefully purchase one tomorrow.

The car appears to be in very nice shape appears to be an early production car as it has no right side mirror. Does it also have the hood prop on the right side of the engine bay as well?

The wheels are not correct for the car but are period correct wheels. Were those wheels on the car when you bought it?

Cameron DeReus 05-15-21 12:10 PM

Yes, it has the prop on the right side.
The rims are from a Camaro and were on there when I bought the car.

i don't think the camaro was ever 4 lug.

Cameron DeReus 05-15-21 03:01 PM

I'm just going off what my brother said, but I know that there not from any mazda.

mazdaverx713b 05-16-21 08:00 AM

The wheels are aftermarket and I have seen them on early cars over the years. While they look nice, I just prefer the original waffle wheels. I couldn't tell you what brand they are unfortunately. They do look like wheels from a Camaro however.

What is the build date? Is it a 1978 build date?

Cameron DeReus 05-17-21 06:30 AM

The car was built in September of '78.
I have grown fond of the wheels on the car and couldn't really picture anything else on them, and also the rims look great with the white lettering :).

mazdaverx713b 05-18-21 05:44 AM

I would agree that the white lettered tires do look great with those wheels. I like that they are period correct and would agree that the wheel and tire combination does look very nice on the car!

Wow! they look great!

mazdaverx713b 05-19-21 05:57 AM

Thank you! I've really enjoyed these cars near my entire life. I have memories of seeing RX-7's as a kid in the 80's. I have owned 45 of them since 1999.

Cameron DeReus 05-19-21 06:35 AM

That is a lot of cars:crzyeye: ! I'm thinking of purchasing my second vehicle (all before I can drive) which is a Meyers Manx Beach buggy.

mazdaverx713b 05-19-21 11:09 AM

I say go for it! Those are super cool and rare!

Cameron DeReus 05-19-21 11:15 AM

I know, it would also be a lot of fun around our property (and on gravel roads).
The only problem is im in grade 10 and own the Rx7 already, so im on a tight budget
