Where to buy paint for interior?
I am looking to repaint my plastics on my 93'. I went to pep boy's and they have the duplicolor vinyl/plastic paint but the only clear coat they had available was the duplicolor acrylic lacquer clear coat.
So my question is, do you guys know any local stores to get the paint/clear coat? I want to try to replicate the 02' spirit r interior https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...0&d=1225340028 I love the center console's color gray but I would like something a little bit darker to match the dash a little bit more. I have a 93' touring, it has a tan interior and I want to change it to black. I have seen a few others that successfully painted they're tan interiors to black, and love the look! I tried searching but the function isn't working for me for some odd reason... |
Call or check at your local auto paint store for SEM plastic/vinyl dye. Superior quality stuff available in a huge selection of colors. You could probably find the color you want there. Spendy stuff but from what I heard, excellent. I bought the gloss black but have not painted my pieces yet.

I'd link you to the thread that helped me paint my plastics, but I'm lazy. I used the "Plasti-Dip" (Spray) product, which was found at Home Depot. It might be a slight bit too shiny for your likes, but could be worth it to pick up a can for experimentation. I'll try to take pics for you when I get home to give you an idea.

If prepped correctly and using a paint made for plastic there should be no problems what so ever. Even if not using a paint made for plastics you can get a spray on plastic promoter to help the paint adhere to the plastic. Just make sure the plastics are cleaned and prepped. Follow directions on can and be done with it. |
Sorry it took so long, but here are some pics. Hope they help you in making a decision.
