Do you want the OEM carpet? If you do, contact a dealer OR possibly Mazda Recycling.

If you do not find the OEM necessary...contact a REPUTABLE automotive upholstry shop, especially one that has done the work on show cars to prove it.

I checked into this a few months ago OEM from a junkyard will run you about $450 shipped

Holy crap!!

I can get a pretty damn nice looking area rug for $450, carve it up and have some plush schniz in my car.

Pretty steep...I guess you're guaranteed a fit that way though.

Hmm...

I couldn't find carpet on either site...only floor mats.

Maybe they no longer offer it?

Forget dealers

As you all know, definately avoid dealers when buying things. For example, when i called to get a price on carpet, one dealer said about $1300. Thats right- $1300 - an extra zero!

I have not tried this yet, but will probably try. Someone before suggested (I think they actually did this) that you take out the carpet that is in the car now, take it to a carpet store (carpet mart, etc) and have them cut out a piece of black carpet (one that looks good for car carpet) and then just go home and put it in. If there are clips or anything, you can save them from your old carpet, or order new ones from the dealer. Like I said, I have not tried this yet, but unless someone comes up with a better idea, I will do it in the next couple of months. I don't see why this wouldn't work though.

Interesting idea

I wonder if anyone else has any thoughts on the cutting your own carpet idea?

Our cars definitely dont have flat floors. To make that fit right you would have to cut and sew a lot when molding it to the curves. Sounds like more trouble than its worth to me.

My friend tried that on his VR-4 and it didn't work out at all. After all of the trouble to find the perfect carpet, cut all of it out as perfectly as possible, take all of the old carpet out, and put the new carpet in, the end result was new carpet that didn't fit or look quite right. Trust me. I was with him during the whole thing and tried to help him pick out the right carpeting. I eventually lost track of how much time he spent on that little project.
