where to bolt?
 

where are you guys bolting the harness belts for your racing seats? i got some corbeaus with 4 point harnesses and dont know where to bolt them to. im mainly interested in bolting the shoulder harnesses. i know i can bolt one of them where to oem seatbelt went but what about the other shoulder harness. any pics would be appreciated. thanks

The shoulders should be wrapped around or attached to an aftermarket rear harness bar. They should not be bolted to the floor directly behind the seat. In a worse case scenario, they can be bolted back by the rear shock tower:

Definitely need a harness bar (look into the M2 unit) or a cage. Just a word of warning...if you decide to skip this step and mount them in ANY other way other than what is specified by the manufacturer (and there are VERY specific guidelines) you will have a greater chance of dying in a crash than if you just wore the regular seatbelt.

And I am just guessing that you're doing this because you think it looks cool, right?

I suggest you read the latest couple of harness bar/harness threads here and in the 3rd gen section. Do not run harnesses on the street without a rollbar. It isn't safe.

With one of these lmao. Saw a n/a FC with it's harness hooked up to one of these... Then again, the fc had a wannabe Ferrari 360 body kit.

^^^bwaaa ha hah ha. thanks for the info guys. i do like the look of aftermarket seats versus the 13 yr worn, torn, seats that are presently in there. my last car had them (ford probe) and i liked them very much, and now i got some for this car. as long as they are securely bolted im not worried about the accident part. i dont run my 7 hard or try to do alot of street not-so-friendly things.

Yeah, I'd rather take my chances and not even have one one, than get trapped and banged up while inside the harness as the car crushes down on me in a bad wreck.

Roll cage first, then harness. The harness was designed with reason behind it's design, without the cage it defeats the purpose. You would be much safer in the stock seat belt than in an aftermarket harness in that case.

u guys got some long stretched scenarios dont ya. i appreciate the help but there are thousands of people running aftermarket seats without roll bars. i might look into one later but for now im just bolting them in. thanks

You can run aftermarket seats with the stock seatbelts. What do seats have to do with a harness?

A roll-over or side impact is not a far-fetched scenario...a harness will lock you in place to get crushed while the stock seatbelt will give and let your body move a little bit. This is why you don't run a harness without a rollbar.

I couldn't care less what "thousands" of other people are doing, because I know how many fricking ignorant morons are out there.
