What type (not color) paint to use?
 

I'm at a dilemma, where I need to repaint a car, but I don't know what type of paint I should be using.

I was looking at Napa, but I don't know which link to press.

Also, can someone recommend a brand or a website where I could go to get paint for automotive?

Where could I go to purchase the paint? I can't seem to find how to do it on their website.

I have always used House of color for base and RM for clear or for matching OEM RM. RM is the parent company of Glasurit Dimont is the normal line of paint not their top of the line, cost is a whol lot less and sean just as nice paint jobs done with it and it is more durable for the street cars. they are sold at auto body supply locations.

If I remember correctly, Glasurit is pretty expensive. A good alternative would be PPG paint, Lamborghini and Ferrari both use PPG on all their cars.

Glasurit is the mack daddy, RM designs its materials around Glasuirt, at lower cost. RM is great quality stuff though and they are all BASF owned.

You can buy RM products at Carquest also, or through websites such as autobodymall if you can get an account.

I would highly recommend their products, its what I use here at the shop. But just to name drop on you - Chip Foose is also a BASF advocate.........so um yeah :lol:

Both Glasuirt and RM have entire OEM colour lines - if you can find it on *any* vehicle produced in the world, they have that colour (and mostly everything in between). They also have the "carissma" line which gets into kandies and high-pearl effect colours.....but not as extensive as HOK.

Broken down though, any of the major manufactures have good products that are used by at least SOME OEM's. BASF just has most of them :) But PPG, Sikkens, Dupont, and sherwin williams all have a top of line system that will work well when used correctly - and making sure its used correctly is usually the cause of 90% of any issues people have, so no matter what you choose, follow the data sheets.

I sell have been selling Dupont for years, so I am kind of biased, but it is a really good product. I have actually just been trying to get into selling it online. Like someone said above its all in the prep.

ive been using spies hecker paint its wat i use at work, its local here too.
